In 2005 the WTO ruled that the US refusal to let Antiguan gambling companies access their market violated free-trade, as domestic companies were allowed to operate freely. In 2007 the WTO went a step further and granted Antigua the right to suspend U.S. copyrights up to $21 million annually.

In response Antigua opted to start their own pirate site, with permission from the World Trade Organization. This pirate site never saw the light of day and both countries are reportedly still working on a resolution.

maybe slysoft got some gov dollars in attempts at a resolution?

Slysoft was ordered to shut down in 2014...They appealed but, kept selling which was/in violation of the original order...

So, the only gov dollars they could've accepted would've been a pardon...Wasn't it like 5k per individual offense or something like that?

Which apparently the owner was/has been opposed to...So...

That being said:

Hi all,

We were not allowed to respond to any request nor to post any statement, but now it is official:

SlySoft has been shut down after almost 13 years. The official statement on the website (http://www.slysoft.com/ or http://h4.slysoft.com/) is kind of short:

"Due to recent regulatory requirements we have had to cease all activities relating to SlySoft Inc.
We wish to thank our loyal customers/clients for their patronage over the years. "

I am really sorry for that, but this is final. SlySoft is gone...

Thanks to all our customers and supporters for their loyalty.

Goodbye red fox...

So yes, it looks like they caved.

I wonder what impact this will have on piracy as a whole. Were people who actually upload torrents using the same software?

They shoulda open sourced the software and "leaked" it online. Then there would be no stopping it.

As for replacement software for mounting ISO's, i used to use Daemon Tools Lite but ever since Windows 8 ISO mounting/buring is built in and I haven't needed it. However going beyond just mounting/burning ISO's would require extra software (creating/repacking/converting/etc). Not sure what options are out there.

EDIT: Anyone know what the "final" version of AnyDVD HD actually was?

0.

The groups who release the bulk of pirated movies have others means. There are already 4K rips around, so I believe HDCP 2.2 has already been cracked. At worst you could point a camera at a TV and record, but that isn't necessary. You can't beat the analog hole, in the end your incredible encrypted digital stream will become an analog signal.

Alcohol 52% Free is a pretty good solution for creating and mounting ISO's to virtual drives. I have the full version for 52% and it's never given me a problem over the past few years.

EDIT: So funny to see this post today. I just finished putting my rig together last night but since I no longer use an optical drive, there was no need for me to download and install AnyDVD. Like a few others have said, I guess I can kiss my lifetime free updates goodbye.

True, I run them through handbrake after I rip them. I dump a bunch at a time then queue them up in handbrake and let it go.
