Q6600 vid mod

Hello Fellow Overclockers, I'm new here so please point out stuff (rules) I'm not following. But I created an account because I am building a media pc for the living room from cheap old components. I got a Q6600 locked up (i.e. OEM crap BIOS) inside a Dell Precision T3400, I did a tape mod to get it to 3.0 GHz, but I want to go higher. I guess set FSB is my only option? But I know I'll hit a wall at 3.1 or so, so I need a volt mod. Which pins do I connect/block to give the Q6600 specifically more juice? All I got on google are pictures of xeon's and the guide on this site unfortunately has the pictures taken out. Thanks for all the help in advance!

Anyone? I got the intel datasheet on the Q6600, but I don't know which vid pins to connect/block. Do I go by the ones and zeros and block the zero-value vid pins with electrical tape and connect the one-value vid pins to vcc?

Good news, looks like I've figured the pin mods for voltage out. If anyone is still using a 775 CPU on an OEM build, this is a risky but good way to get some more juice into the CPU. I you look at an intel PDF, you would find the voltage table as the picture in the above post shows. Then determine what vid the processor is currently running at. Mine was at 1.2500. This corresponds to 0 1 1 1 0 1 for vid 6 to 1. Then look for the voltage you want to get after the mod. I wanted 1.40, so 0 1 0 0 01 is the pin layout to change to. Therefore, only vid 4 and vid 3 need to be shorted with a conductive pen to vss which would give them zero values. While electrical tape is not required in this case, to flip from a 0 to a 1, the vid pin needs to be taped.

Have you tested it yet?

Glad you answered your own question and maybe this thread should go under volt mods?

Hope it works for you, I have a 6600 but I can overclock the normal way lol
