You just don't seem to ever get it. You ever heard of the saying "Give them an inch and they will take a mile"? Some people out there just seem to be OK with whatever they do, I don' get it. It's a pattern, they slowly keep adding little things because people are always "it's just so and so, it doesn't really matter", until after a number of so and so's you're left with an ad-filled "service" that you have little control over. They aren't going to do it all at once, they are going to do it step by step because each step by itself "doesn't matter". I don't understand how this isn't apparent to everyone.

So don't use Win10. Why does it matter to you what they do if you aren't going to use the OS anyway?

but he didn't say anything about not using win 10 now did he?

but i guess you still won't acknowledge that people simply don't like the perception that MS has turned an OS, which a vast number of PC owner's now rely upon, into a data mining service and have the right to complain.

it's a wonder you even view these threads since you already know you won't agree with it; seems pretty hypocritical.

Microsoft announced plenty of times Windows 10 would be the last "OS" because their plans are "Windows as a service".

Are you personally going to wait until the Windows 10 service uses your printers to print out ads? There will be an option to turn that off, that makes it ok?

Using an online service as a replacement for a stand alone OS... yeah.

Reap it.

Never seen ads on the lock screen. Calling BS.

EDIT: I have this option enabled too, both at Work and at Home.

Microsoft has begun showing advertisements on the Windows 10 lock screen. The company telegraphed this move nearly a year ago, but has avoided actually pushing content until now. The ads in question are for Rise of the Tomb Raider, which launched in January for the PC and last fall for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Source.

Fun fact: according to Microsoft's internal dictionary "more" is a synonym for "ads".

Tip: turn it off.

Trick: get Rise of the Tomb Raider from another store. Unless you want a version of the game that, while costing the same, is a Universal App and thus: a) only works on Windows 10; b) doesn't have SLI or Crossfire support; c) enforces borderless non-exclusive fullscreen (performance penalty); d) and V-Sync (more input lag); e) and thus no G-Sync or FreeSync; f) In addition to that, no modding; g) no launching from the .exe; h) and no overlays (Fraps, RivaTuner Statistics Server, etc); i) More downsides here.

You are joking! No wonder Windows Store is dead and for good reason. To hell with them and this stupidity.

I bought a very nice laptop last summer, i got it days after windows 10 went live, since it came with windows 8.1 and i didn't want to deal with windows 8, I did the update to windows 10, I also purchased office 2013 (2016 was not released and only a brain dead ape would pay for 365). It's been fine up until this past weekened. Now i'm getting windows popups or "ads" as most of the world would call them, offering me 50% off upgrading office 2013 to 2016.

Now 50% off is not a bad deal, and perhaps if I had purchased office 2013 a few years ago I might like this sort of "deal", however I just paid full price for 2013 less than 8 months ago, and m$ is now spamming me with ads to upgrade. It's vexing to say the least. Worse still I've been completely unable to STOP the ads telling me to buy office 2016 for 50% off!.

No this is not adware, this is windows 10. I fear this is just the tip of the iceberg too.

This is just the beginning. Soon we'll have ads during startup, shut down, reboot, they'll display full screen ads when Windows starts and shuts down, when you open a program and screen saver will be an ad.

This was obvious when they were intending to have ads even in Enterprise.

And there they were, defending the great god MSpy.

People always defend crap like this because it's easier for them to do so, instead of fighting back for what they truely believe in.
