EVGA 980 Ti Low GPU usage on almost any heavy game

Thread Starter
Hello,

Almost any heavy game I play, GPU load stays below 50% and usually it's 20-40%. I tried turning down taxing settings on the CPU as I thought that my CPU was bottlenecking, but to no avail. CPU load is 50-75% usually.

I already tried clean installing drivers, turning off Shadowplay, turning off Vsync, putting GPU on performance mode, and I am utterly clueless on what to do. My firestrike score ranges from 12,700-13,900 from the past few runs and there aren't any other taxing CPU processes.

Any help would be nice!

What games do you play and at what resolution?

*edit*

What are the temps as well?

Post one of your 3DMark runs, a 4790k will not bottleneck even 2 x 980 Ti's in SLI.

1080p and temps are around 66-70C. GTA V, Star Citizen, Planetside 2 for the most part. All show similar GPU/CPU load.

I see you have a 980 Ti SC, revert to stock and run the test again. The score you posted has a pretty high gpu overclock (1304MHz) and yet the gpu score is pretty low for that high core.

Here's a stock Evga 980 Ti SC gpu score of mine (1102MHz), and notice the gpu score is 18,742, much higher than your 1304MHz on the core 15,170. Ignore the CPU score or overall score as higher Physics Score means just higher overall score.

What? I didn't even OC my card though. I haven't touched any settings, clocks, or voltages. And is my memory clock supposed to be that low?

Edit: Nevermind about the memory clocks...

Aren't most of these games CPU limited?

Ok, I see so it shows the final clock of 1304MHz, sometimes 3DMark does that, hmm. The score is still short around 3 Grand on the GPU score compared to my "stock" 980 Ti's SC run.

http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/5144324/fs/7699374#

Still almost 4,000 points more, and my card boosts to 1316MHz "stock" as opposed to yours 1304MHz, so pretty much the same.

Graphics test one is short about 20fps, and test 2 around 12fps short.

Planetside 2 kind of is, but GTA V I should get at least 60 fps on high (not very high) settings like what other sites benchmark at. I get around 15-35 fps.

Exactly, no idea what's going on. Hopefully it's not defective.
