Ubisoft might be in financial danger, and in their weakest moment the French multimedia powerhouse, Vivendi, is attempting a hostile takeover to acquire the game company and add it to their extensive portfolio.

Is this really bad news?

Good, Ubisoft can go DIAF for all I care.

Also, shame on Ubisoft if they're trying to play the language card by appealing to the Quebec government.

Vivendi is responsible of some of the greatest games in recent History.

1-) World of Warcraft
2-)Starcraft
3-)Diablo II
4-)Warcraft

When Blizzard separated itself from Vivendi and Joined Activision they (Blizzard/Activision) were responsible for the biggest mess ups in recent History.

1-) World of Warcraft
2-) StarCraft
3-) Diablo III
4-) Heroes of the Storm.

If Vivendi does have a hand in game development as Blizzard claimed, or at least the smallest type of interaction then I absolutely trust them more than anything Ubisoft can ever inspire to, I would in fact go as far to say this is the greatest thing to happen to the gaming industry and Canada will hopefully join Vivendi on this endevaour.

Haha GOOD! Let's hope for some Vivendi best practices to spill over towards the Ubisoft teams.  This can be a really good thing.

Yep, truly pathetic if they are turning to government to save their failing business model.

Agreed, I've grown tired of Ubisoft's business practices and havent touched a game of theirs for years, it's time for a change.
Eh it's not just the appealing to government part that ticks me off. Ubisoft is a French company, without getting into politics and inadvertently offending people along the way, let me just summarize it as Quebec is predominantly Francophone.

Ubi is asking for a governmental bailout?! Good luck with that. Hah!
