I assume you meant Starcraft 2, and neither that nor D3 were "one of the biggest mess ups". SC2 is very popular especially in other countries, and D3 ROS has a very large community and isn't even the same game it was at launch. Though it's going downhill due to botters, and Blizzard doesn't seem to care. WoW definitely went downhill though.

Everything you said is speculation though, we have no clue if these shareholders actually have any control over game development. Lot of Blizzard games went downhill because they have a terrible business motto of more developers = faster/better content. Any Indie developer will tell you that's 100% false and the opposite happens, and it definitely shows when they doubled the size of WoW's developers and only bad things came of it. I mean every other year you end up paying $250+ more for a single tier if you keep your sub going.

D3 doesn't deserve the title imo. Its just definitely not a Diablo game to me. Feels kinda kiddyish. No great soundtrack, no dark feeling enviroment.

The overall artistic direction isn't bad, balance isn't horrible, but in different areas it can be lacking (overall impact of skills/attacks over time vs enemy players is a bit low on average; healing is done nicely though) or outright abusive. (like the way of implimentation of daily quests and their relevance to f2p currency.)

It not for everyone. My bother has tried LoL and Dota 2 but loved Heros because of SC2. I am huge into Dota 2 but still like to play it from time to time. Overwatch is going to be amazing. People that are playing it now say its good. I played the Beta and its the same feeling I got when I first started playing Dota 2 and many games I ended up loving.

If shareholders in Quebec want to back Ubisoft, be my guest. I am also pretty sure they have a studio in montreal that employs a decent amount of people and is generally well respected in the province.
If they even hint at asking for some sort of government hand-out or "grants/incentives", then they should be told to go screw themselves. Ubisoft have gone from a respected development company to a jack of no-trades with a crappy Uplay client, crappy DRM (actually those 2 are the same but I want to take this time to explain how much I dislike Uplay), mostly rehashed-games and dis-respect for the gaming community as a whole while rarely churning out anything decent.

I'm actually still sour about buying watch dogs and then Ubisoft going on to flaunt it as one of the best new IP's...yeah, because idiots like me had faith they wouldn't crap on it like they will no doubt crap on the sequel.

What was the point of this post again? Oh yeah, screw ubisoft.

Yeah I was more just referencing that as a possible motive as to why Ubisoft wants shareholders from canada. Quebecois are a prideful people and even though some of us here hate ubisoft I think they are generally proud of what Ubi montreal have accomplished. Would ubisoft prey on that as well as their french roots to try and attract new sources of capital? You bet they would.

Honestly the only thing the game has going for it is the multiplayer, with the seasons. Would take a HD remake of Diabo 2 any day of the week over Diablo 3. If it wasn't for the Diabo name, they would never have sold as many copies. WoW was only good for the first two expansions, after that it blew. And Starcraft while still good, it is just another RTS in a long list a great RTS games. CoH, Civ, and XCOM can give starcraft a run for its money any day of the week.

Ubisoft getting bought out by someone that is nearly just as bad as Ubisoft, I feel for them. But sadly it will most likely be the same. Look at how the Whole Activation thing went, sure they split up. But Activision Blizzard is still worse than EA. Though both are still better than Ubisoft, the people that pretty much killed themselves with bad games. And Vivendi was the parent company driving Activision Blizzard into the ground the entire way.

They are not the worst, but not the best either. I have no love for Vivendi.
save urself the trouble, just play path of exile, also free. and forget about Diablo franchise.

Seconded. PoE is great, and becoming better patch after patch.

On topic though, I'm not sure Vivendi actually has the means to complete that hostile takeover. Sure they've bought a good amount of Ubi shares recently from minority shareholders, but as long as the Guillemot family doesn't sell theirs, it just won't go through. Sure they're grabbing as many shares as they can but all it's going to do is give them a real say about the direction Ubi should be taking. It won't give them controlling interest.

I have not launched any of their games for past few years - even the ones I have gotten for free. So from my perspective - nothing of value was lost. Only thing that UBisoft has been producing of late have been the press releases how they will do better for the PC platform. I believe the best way forward, if Vivendy would get the Ubisoft would be just take the IP's and start from a clean sheet with fresh teams on these. And ofc shut down the UPlay wink.gif
