With the release of Far Cry Primal this week on consoles, PC gamers are itching to not only play the game but find out what the performance is like - and if we're going to see a decent jump in graphics over the potato boxes. Well, now we know what hardware you're going to need to game at 1080p @ 75-90FPS.

Isn't the titan x the same performance as a 980ti roughly speaking? Needing a 980 ti for, what I am guessing is near max settings, 4k @ 30fps isn't anything new. If I remember corectly the 980 ti and the titan x were getting about 35-40fps average on far cry 4 on ultra @ 4k, so it seems relatively similar.

4K at 30fps doesn't sound too bad for a single GPU in a modern game. But dropping to 1080P and only 75FPS on a titan x is pretty bad. I suspect they were using allot of AA in their testing or we have another game Ubisoft didn't optimize very well.

This is no surprise, 4K is extremely taxing on the current GPU hardware. It is 4x the pixel count of 1080p after all.

For 4k?
Totalbiscuit did a stream yesterday of the game and he couldn't have a stable 1080p 60fps with a Titan X without dropping the settings.

lol that's why I'll wait another probably 5 or 10 years until I try out 4k or even consider it. Right now the technology sucks

To each his own, but I think 4k is doable just not cost effective. I really only bought a 4k monitor because after I got my system up and going with a Titan X, I felt overpowered with the 1080p monitor I had. After getting the 4k monitor though, I itched for keeping up >60fps and ended up getting another. By the time I got the 2nd, the 980ti's were launched, but the loss in cost of selling the titan x and buying 2x 980ti's make the total cost within $2-300 along with the troubles. I do so miss the high refresh rates for FPS's.

Probably useful to drop those two settings that have no effect on looks whatsoever, and enjoy 60fps.
