Snip. (Click to show)
There were always way too many builds with exceptional levels of difficulty mods, that lost out to simple, small, "Oh, if I just had a little more money . . I could do a build just like that too " builds.
While a clean & simple minimalist aesthetic has a lot of popular appeal, precisely because it seems to be so "doable" to so many neophytes, . . . to see the same similar aesthetic win so regularly, was a major dis-incentive for more technically advanced modders to want to enter.
Pro and Sponsored classes should have been set up to be judged much more by peer level builders who can understand and appreciate what they're seeing, than mere popularity of the aesthetic.
So, nothing changed? I somehow assumed that part of this break in MOTM was to change the voting system, bummer.
Right from the "Rules" page itself:
The winner will be selected by popular vote
•The eligible nominations will be put into a poll for other members to vote on
•It is up to each voter to determine what criteria they feel the nominees should be judged by, so long as they feel the one they select is the best.
•You must be a member of the site before the start of voting to vote. Any votes by members who joined after the start of voting will be removed from the poll.
For Sponsored builds, I wouldn't mind seeing them judged by the past Pro Class winners.
