Need help with the XSPC RIVBE MB Waterblock set

Thread Starter
I have received the XSPC Rampage IV Black Ed water block set used from a friend for free. The set didn't come with the thermal pads or the K2 paste.

I ordered the two pads 1mm and 1.5mm but they are both blue and the instructions says to install them by color (the originals are blue and black) but they give no indication of the thickness of the color of the pads and since I do not have the original pads I have no idea.

I am also concerned about the K2 thermal paste they recommend using. I am not sure what type to get.............

For the pads, just get a few sizes, eyeball it, then place the blocks onto the board. After placing them on the board, take them back off and check the pads for impressions of the components. If there are impressions, you are good to go, if not, replace that pad with a thicker one.

As to the paste, you can do a lot better. Pick up some Grizzly Kryonaut or the venerable MX-4 or something. So long as it is non-conductive, you shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks for the response. I finally got a response from XSPC and they relayed to me the thickness of the pads. One area gets both pads.
I will have to order some non conductive grease because all I have is the Arctic silver 5 (it is conductive). I have some Grizzly on order for my cpu but It isn't that much so I will get something else. Thanks for the advice!

You won't miss much from using their K2 paste actually, pretty close to MX-4 as it is.
