I'm sure GOG does, but the MS store has just started. I'm all for GOG, no DRM etc. But GOG is more or less what Steam is, an online store. CDPR putting TW3 on there was cool, but one Tripple-A compared to what MS is bringing over is nothing. I just want more games on PC, at this point i wouldn't even care if it was Activision taking on Valve.. thumb.gif

In my mind PC is not a platform, Steam, GOG, Origin are, and right now the only stores getting exclusives are Origin and the MS store. Valve has sat on their you know what for to long, the support is atrocious, they haven't made a game in ages, etc. I wouldn't even mind their achivement system getting an overhaul, something like PS trophies would be awesome( i know, most people don't see the point of them, but some of us enjoy it.). I just don't know what they do over there all day..

SteamOS to the rescue?

Maybe. I've learned a lot more about this issue since the story broke and I can see the logic behind Microsoft's decisions more clearly now than when I did reading PCPer's article about it. What remains to be seen is how difficult it will be to patch out these issues in the games. If it's a simple patch for the executable and how it launches, then there's not a huge reason to worry (barring some of the issues running as a UWA including the lack of third-party overlay compatibility). If it's baked somehow into how the game itself runs, then it's a lot more work, and not likely going to be an easy or quick fix.

With regards to DirectX 12 itself, I've learned that none of these restrictions are imposed by the API itself, but rather how the games are tailored to be compatible with the UWP restrictions. This is all fixable.

The be precise both Steam and Uplay have their exclusives as well as well. In the case of Steam most of their exclusives are ofc relatively old (Half Life 2, etc..). Also technically Valve does do games from time to time, it's just not some kind of awesome AAA knocking your socks off stuff during the past decade or so. But stuff like Alien Swarm (free little game) or Dota2 or another Left for Dead or ... something.

Many people rages about Galaxy not backup up their saves online, like all the other clients do.

I think that is a huge drawback too. And they have no plans to make it happen.

Damn.. Sad to hear that wth.gif

I was running a batch file after every play, backing up to Dropbox, but that's just stupid. They should fix this. I know many people that won't buy games on Galaxy because of no cloud backup. We're talking about very small files. Should be no problem..

Maybe. But DX12 and W10 have gotten quite a bit of backlash. And OpenGL had issues that Vulkan solved, so, it should do a lot better now.

I never said it was a miracle API. There's no such thing. But it is the API with the most potential right now. Emphasis on potential.

Windows store will be fixed, this day in age with social media and mobile devices people communicate very quickly. Then there is the legendary first impression. When are these companies going to learn they mostly have one shot to get it right. Could you imagine if we guys thought this way when trying to meet a mate? Oh don't worry about me ill fix it before our next date. What? No next date? I can change give me another chance!

The only difference here is Microsoft has windows 10 to force you. Something they have done since they became popular. Gfwl should have opened Their eyes but instead they will just find a way to force you. I mean everything now they tout is a "windows 10" device. Its as if previous versions of windows were developed by aliens who dont know our language.
I am willing to bet the endgame is you cant even play a game on your pc unless you tether your Xbox to it. I hate being so critical of Microsoft but they have held back pc gaming for a decade. I am salty about it, sorry,

It's true that PC gaming has one of the biggest cry babies of them all. Or maybe just hardware enthusiast and not the actual pc gamers.
