Yeah, but you'd want analog function for things like walking or steering, but digital for a "use" button or the like.

In which case you only need variable input on WASD, or alternatively something like this to hold in your left hand:

I want this, with analogue stick for moving, for my thumb:

Isn't that how gamepads work? Only 2 of the triggers and the two sticks are analog, everything else is digital. Their software just needs to trick the game into thinking it is a gamepad instead of a keyboard.

Ideally the keyboards software would allow you to set the key to work as analog or digital. In digital mode you should be able to set at what point in the keys analog stoke will trigger the "digital" keystroke. So if you like short stroke keys you could set it to 25%, if you like long stroke keys you could set it to 100%.

For the keys working in analog, I don't see any reason why you could set it up the same way you do steering wheels and pedals. When I set up my steering wheel with the logitech software I can set max endpoints, sensitivity, dead zones etc. You can also do these things in game for the games that support it, but the game doesn't have to have all of those options for them to work.

That's like your opinion man.

Steam controller isn't even close to the worst controller designs.

I own a steam controller I love the customizable settings however I hate the right touchpad on the controller. If you are playing any fps games or any games that uses the right analog stick to control the camera you are going to have a hard time also the buttons are awkwardly placed and too small.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

People have actually modded analog sticks onto both the Belkin Nostromo and the Razer Orbweaver with pretty good results, doesn't look that hard either.

This will eliminate taping in some cases.

Honestly, I'd buy one of these just for games like GTA. better driving and poor shooting with a controller or crappy driving and better shooting with keyboard/mouse is not a choice I like to make.
