I can confidently say that Far Cry: Primal is one of the best games I've played in recent years. It's a fascinating and hugely satisfying foray into Stone Age survival that pulled me right in from the start.

Hiding in the shadows out of sight, I watch a group of hunters from a rival tribe chase after the bear. I follow, hidden, until they corner it. A fight breaks out and the bear—which is still very much on fire—mauls the hunters to death. It’s one of those beautiful, absurd moments of colliding AI, and I can’t bring myself to finish the weakened bear off despite its pelt being a valuable crafting material. Far Cry Primal is a very silly videogame.

This is no gameworks title right?

Was just looking at some benchmarks and positively surprised to see 290X/390X being better than overclocked GTX 980 and Fury X on par with 980 Ti smile.gif

I think the current trend can continue. Doom, Hitman, Far Cry Primal. AMD GPUs doing really well. Even the old ones

both german, but I highly value both of them. smile.gif

It is amazing to see the 390X being only 4% slower than the 980 Ti (stock) at 4K

PC Gamer also has a review up:

Performance With a GTX 970, 16GB of RAM, and an i5 CPU clocked at 3.40GHz I got a steady 60FPS at 1440p on max settings, with the occasional dip to 40-50 when things got really busy. A big improvement over Far Cry 4.

Settings Textures, shadows, geometry, terrain, and water are all adjustable, and you can choose between FXAA or SMAA anti-aliasing. Motion blur and post FX can be disabled if your FPS is low.

Here even Fury is faster than 980ti @1440p:

It just shows you the power of software optimization.

970 and 980 are looking really bad. Nvidia will probably release a driver soon.

They probably don't want to see their 500$ GTX 980 being beaten by a 320$ R9 390

On those kind of tests, they probably use 970 and 980 with stock nvidia clocks. A 1500mhz and mem oc-ed 980 will perform much better.

DOOM alpha tests, said that 980 was hitting 50 fps. or lower at 1080p. I personally played the alpha (was invited) taken some screenshots, and the fps i had was, solid 60fps. With 70% gpu usage at tops. Game was locked at 60fps though (and the final version too).

I highly doubt much can change. Only if they implement GimpWorks in a patch
