Ducky Secret impressions

Hey guys, yesterday I got my new Ducky Secret and I wanted to write quick impressions because I am not sure if this mouse is getting enough attention (for how good it is). I will be comparing mainly to the Logitech G303 because that is the mouse I had before.

Let me start with build quality - this mouse feels AMAZING (I came from g303 that I had three times replaced because of the rattling sensor and I ran out of patience), the PBT plastic is great to the touch, it is somewhat rougher than ordinary ABS plastic but the sturdy feel of it is completely worth it. The cable is not braided and is one of the most flexible cables I have ever seen on anything. Main negative aspect for many people is the weight - 120g without any additionals weights is just HEAVY, then you have the option to add 6g or 11g weights but I just cannot imagine how anyone would use that. (but that's just me). I found quite nice that Ducky included spare set of mouse feet, nice addition.

Main buttons have a nice click to them, although I feel that they are a bit harder to press than those on g303. Buttons on the side have quite long travel but again offer a very nice click (can't stop clicking them, it just feels so satisfying). But what suprised me the most is the scroll wheel - it has great click, feels very sturdy and has shockingly good steps while being very quiet.

The mouse itself has no software and everything is done via the button on the bottom of the mouse - I don't mind it, but if someone likes to change their settings regularly they might find it annoying. What I found interesting though, is the fact that the LEDs inside are probably of higher quality then those on the Logitech g303, while I could not get white lighting on g303 (it would always be blue-ish) here on ducky it is not a problem.

The sensor itself is great, coming from a g303 with a superior sensor I expected to be let down by the PWM3310 that the Ducky has but I just cannot tell the difference. I feel no acceleration, no angle snapping, I just feel that it is a great sensor.

TLDR
+ sensor (3310)
+ build quality
+ ease of use
- weight (120g)
+- no software

Yeah, after using the G303 the weight is something I seriously miss...

Heavy. Can't turn LEDs off. No software. PBT gimmick. Seems like a fail to me.

You can turn LED off. Everything else is true although they all work in my favor

PBT is not a gimmick to me. all my mice have their coating or plastic destroyed on M1 and it feels really annoying to me.
for most mice i own i have bought spare shells or even spare mice, only for this reason.
as for software, i'm just not gonna install software unless i can uninstall it. as in on-board memory.

but the 3310 turns me off, and the damn LEDs + translucent plastic...
the plastic on the right side of the mouse will mess with me.
would be fun if they made a LED-less 3366 version without side-buttons. biggrin.gif

PBT is great, LED can be turned off, only the weight...(and for some software, atlhough I was using 2400dpi long before I got this mouse so not a problem for me)

I love everything about this mouse except

  • The shape is a little too sharp, especially where my ring and pinkie finger rest. Needs to be more smooth like the original intellimouse.
  • The PBT feels good, but I would be happy with ABS with a soft touch finish honestly
  • The cable is a bit too stiff.

Interesting, I do not find the cable stiff at all

If I could get Secret with G303's sensor, weight and left and right clicks I would be a happy man

Looks like this is a similar weight to the Logitech G502. I've got the G502 - I love the sensor, but not too huge of a fan of the shape and weight of it though. I'd like to get something closer to the IE3.0 shape wise. I guess I can handle it being a similar weight as I'm already used to it now that I've been using the G502 for almost 2 years now.
