How to make Steam detect already-installed games?

Thread Starter
I have 2 Steam Games directory and I moved Killing Floor 2 from one to another, but now Steam doesn't detect it at all. It makes me re-download it into the directory where the game was already pasted. I tried to do Verify Cache, but it just keeps on downloading the game and I know directory names are correct, so what the hell?

That is already set... Both directories were created by Steam.

I think this is the case where it seems like it downloading but its just running checks on the files. I've seen it do this for a few of my games that I have moved.... Butttt i could be wrong.
Small wonder.

Yeah, but it keeps on downloading and downloading from SCRATCH...

I've had this happened before, but I don't remember exactly what I did.

If this is for one game, try letting Steam download for a few minutes so that the directory can be created. Once the directory is created, stop Steam, and move full game directory over to the one that Steam created and overwrite all files. Verify the game cache again.

EDIT: I don't remember which directory it is, but when Steam downloads a game. It keeps a file that it references so it knows where it left off and sometimes those files can get corrupted. Might try to delete those files and see what Steam does.

Also, make sure your games are not in Steam>Steam>Steamapps as opposed to Steam>Steamapps.

Hope this helps.
