How low is too low on the 12v rail?

Thread Starter
I'm currently running an i5 650 on a mini-ITX board with a GTX 780 off of a Corsair HX650.

I tested my graphics card with some GTAV while running HWiNFO64 to check voltages and saw this

Is 11.95v on the 12v rail too low? Soon, this will be powering an ATX board with a 2500k and the same GTX 780.

11.95V is excellent, but unfortunately, software is absolutely unreliable when it comes to reading PSU voltages. You would need to use a digital multimeter

Don't worry about it though. A good quality-made 650W PSU is major overkill for this.

You're allowed up to a five percent variance, which would be anything in the range of 11.4 to 12.6 on the +12v rail, although any modern PSU that can't do way better than that is a total piece of crap and should be avoided. I wouldn't mess with anything that went below 11.8. Getting 11.95 is nothing to be concerned about at all. All of those numbers are excellent, for what they are worth. Like TwoCables said, you really need a multimeter to test accurately.

Why software is useless for reading voltages
As said already get a digtal multi meter dont waste your time with software.

It's not like you have a low-quality PSU. I'm not worried in the least bit.

Even high-quality PSU makers have the occasional lemon.

Nothing indicative of a problem here, but measuring the voltages at various loads with a multi-meter is not a bad idea.
