Looking for a good sound system for my Creative SB ZXR

Hello
I have this sound card: Creative Sound Blaster ZXR for over 7 months now along with a Logitech Z5500 .
While this system is decent is also old and i want to move it in another room for movie and TV purpose only.
This said i'm on the market for a good system to match my sound card in specs or close to it anyway.
Budget anything between 300-500 USD/EURO.
Room size around 11 square meters.
I'm looking for a rich and clear sound over power to cover as many details in songs as possible and be able to enjoy FLAC songs, for short listening to high fidelity music is my main goal followed by games 2nd.
Preferences so far:
- Edifier S550/S760D, S550 seems to have the specs closed to my preferences.
- Edifier S730D/S530D
- BEHRINGER MS40, these are studio monitors and i m not sure how well will go with the sound card tbh but was the only pair with the specs i was looking for.
- Also found some bookshelves with a receiver combos in this price range, but its hard to make up my mind on sound quality over some youtube videos especially when none of the reviewers where using the sound card i own...
Also i'm a noob when it comes to setting up a proper bookshelf system with a receiver/amp, so any suggestions in this area would be greatly appreciated if they come with a How To !smile.gif
A basic receiver with a pair of bookshelves that can be expanded to 4 in the future i think might be the best option but like i said above i m clueless when it comes to these set ups.
Also i have spent well over 2 weeks looking so here i am!
Cheers.

I'm a big fan of vintage HiFi equipment, especially amps. I'm going to suggest a Yamaha MX-35 amp, I'm a big fan of Yamaha's "Natural Sound", and Dragonfly DAC (burn or bury you sound card in you yard if you want audiophile quality sound).

As for speakers, that's more of a personal choice. You really have to listen before you buy. I like Amphion speakers but that's a little beyond your budget. I don't know where you're located so it's hard to suggest a store, but If there some high end audio stores near you see what they have in the way of used bookshelf speakers and listen to some. Here's a sampling from one of the best shops in the Chicagoland area. Audio Consultants

Ebay is a great place to pick up vintage stuff cheep, if you have the patience to search a lot and wait for a deal. I've been very successful buying and selling there. Then there's Goodwill and Salvation army. Don't laugh! I just picked up a very clean and perfect working order Kenwood KR-A5080 receiver for $14 - can't decide whether to keep it for my workshop stereo or eBay it!

Note that to download from HiFi Engine you have to register, but there's no spam from them. In fact there's nothing from them.

There's also US Audio Mart and AudioGon (for sale)

And if anyone is listening out there I'm looking for a Bag End infrasub 18 - of course CHEEP!
