Something Small (and Wicked) This Way Comes... - Page 242

Hi guys smile.gif

So my BH2 finally shipped from Bestcases.eu, after 2 months of waiting.

Now i need to start picking the parts i need for the build.

I was thinking about going with these parts:

i7 7700k
ROG Strix Z270i
16 GB ram (not decided which, yet).

But what about CPU cooler, do you guys have any suggestions? GPU, reference design or aftermarket? And what about PSU? Corsair SF600?

I would also like to get your suggestions on which case fans to get.

I will be using it for 1080p 120hz gaming, video editing and picture editing, and maybe some streaming.

I won't comment on CPU cooler, as I haven't personally done an aircooled build in something like 4 years.

As far as GPU, it's up to you and depends if you're ever going to throw a waterblock on it. Reference designs are much easier, typically, to get a block for. There ARE some blocks out there for non-ref designs, but typically harder to find, especially later down the road.

I've always been a huge fan (no pun intended) of Gentle Typhoons, but I do hear great things about Varders from EK, and Noiseblocker eLoops for fans.

I have never done a watercooled build before, and sadly, right now i just don't have the time, to get into it.

But thank you for the tips regarding the fans.

For the cooler I would get a be quiet! Dark Rock TF, but flip the fans so it exhausts out of the top. Or the Thermalright Macho 90 if you want a tower cooler.( the 90mm tower cooler should give you cleaner more linear airflow but temps will be higher than the TF cooler.)

If you're going for a 1070 or 1080 I would definitely go with a reference blower cooler, they're pretty good. For anything else I would get an aftermarket open cooler.

The SF600 would definitely be a good choice, its one of the best SFX PSU's available right now.

As for fans, as been mentioned the Gentle Typhoons, NB eLoops and EK Vardars are very good. And the be quiet! Silent Wings 3 are great fans too.

Edit: Btw, try not to get RAM with tall heat spreaders, they'll just get in the way of the cooler and aren't needed anyway.

I did go through the entire thread yesterday, and it seems that the Dark Rock TF is a very good candidate.

Thank you for all the suggestions, i will definetly take these into consideration, when i start buying parts.
