Did you changed to a different type/brand of HDMI cable?
Technically HDMI output ports on a laptop, even though its HDMI 1.4, cannot support 2560x1440 without some custom resolution tweeking. Try setting the refresh rate to 30Hz with 2560x1440.
Thanks, to be clear: I'm on a desktop in Windows 10 with HD4600. With the laptop I was also using Windows 10, but with HD4000.
My R9 290 died, so I was using this HD4600 for the first time. It was working fine on 1920 x 1080, but not after setting the custom resolution. I've been using HDMI / 2560 x 1440 @ HD4000. It was working fine, but I had to set it correctly. But if it was not working, the resolution reset to the previous. Now this HD4600 does not do that. I can't really set anything anymore (in safe mod or low-res mod, this low-res mod start without VGA driver). I could only use 64Hz at the moment.
So if I restart normal (also after deleting the HD4600 drivers) it will automatically change to 2560 x 1440 and leaving a black screen. It's not out of range BTW. Sorry, that happened with D-Sub.
