another user had mentioned upgrading the firmware to fix initial very high lod. But most are saying don't because of a very strong possibility of bricking the mouse. Any thoughts on this?

Well... I tried to feed it 'custom' firmware and it had a heart attack as a result.

it's the same algorithm as what's in all the other mice with mcu smoothing
transmitted counts = average of last transmitted counts and newest counts

Do you have MouseTester graphs? How many frames did it have approximately (like G100s has 4 frames)
