So many games mentioned I would like to plus one, I havent got the energy to type them all out.
No one mentioned Planescape Torment yet? I feel obliged to, you can add in Baldurs Gate 2, and lately Pillars Of Eternity both at a notch below Torment. I loved those Infinity engine games, memorable characters, strategic party combat and so many skill and spell options, and in the case of Planescape:Torment the best writing and story in a game bar none that Ive played to this day.
I really liked the Banner Saga
and since no one mentioned it yet I'll throw it in. Its kind of an RPG with a great hand drawn art style, in a twisted Disney sort of way. Turn based combat which I enjoyed although it isnt the greatest. Its more the whole package of the world and writing coupled with the art style. There's a sequel coming soonish as well.
Whle I'm at it, I'm also looking for a game that plays like the Settlers 2, I loved that game years ago and I've been looking for something similar for a long time. A city/empire building strategy game that progresses in real time at a nice slow pace. The sort of thing where you can see the characters building the building and wandering about if thats not too vague. I played Banished
and it was fun for a while but it has no campaign and there's no end game, once youve built everything it just goes on forever until you die of boredom. I'd love to find something newish like that with a good campaign if anyone has any ideas?
