The game looks great, and has great ambiance and music and fantastic puzzles. This game IMO deserves way more recognition then it has had, and is one of my favorite games I played this decade.

+1 for Talos Principle. I am almost done with the game and it is truly amazing. Runs butter smooth, nice visuals, and more importantly really hard puzzles at times. It is one of the best puzzle games out there. I should grab the DLC when it is on sale thumb.gif

Nice idea for a thread smile.gif Ive got quite a few of the games mentioned already on back log, currently part way through Ori and it is brilliant.

I'm going to throw in Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, it has a unique way of story telling despite not having any words. And its the only game Ive played that has truly conveyed a sense of loss, in a way thats surprising and very effective, if that doesnt sound to pretentious lol. I wont expand on that because spoilers.

This War of Mine is also amazing, in a harrowing sort of way.

There's one game I can't believe isn't on this list yet:

Sunless Sea

It's so. very. good.
The setting is that at some point in the past, bats have stolen London and placed it in a subterranean sea. It's storydriven. There's a lot of exploration. There's permadeath. You might get eaten by subterranean seamonsters. You might run out of fuel or food in the middle of the ocean, and be forced to eat some of your crew. The atmosphere is AMAZING.

As a secondary recommendation, I'm quite aware it's gotten a LOT of attention already, but I just feel like Undertale should be mentioned. Just in case it's somehow flown under your radar. It's a really cool game, try it sometime.

I have both Brothers and This War of Mine in my backlog. I played the latter for a few minutes but was focused on another game and totally forgot it. When I ease down on my backlog those two games will be my primary games to finish. Especially Brothers.

Well there you go I had never heard of Sunlesss Sea and Undertale. Sunless Sea looks great and I already added it to my wishlist.

Undertale seems to have incredible reviews as well. I couldnt understand anything from the screenshots though tongue.gif Anyway, added to my list. SO many good reviews for that game. It might suck me in the way Razenroth sucked me in.

A few games I play a lot and think don't get enough love

Last Remnant - someone mentioned earlier, it's a flawed but still very unique and fun JRPG.

Darksiders and Darksiders 2 - Excellent adventure games, similar to the Zelda games (they take flak for being a little too similar) but they have an awesome art style and are very well done with solid mechanics and great controls.

Lords of the Fallen - another game that takes flak for being too similar to another franchise (Dark Souls) but also very well done and a solid game.

Kingdoms of Amular - Very underrated open world RPG with an interesting world (if uninteresting characters), very fun and varied combat, and an actual fun and practical stealth system (rarity for an RPG). Very underrated and can usually be had for dirt cheap these days.

King of Fighters 13 - one of the most criminally overlooked fighting games ever and IMO best in the series since KOF 98.

BattleBlock Theater - Very fun (and funny) 2D platformer.

Mark of the Ninja - Very good 2D stealth ninja game.

Battlestations: Pacific - Criminally overlooked strategy/RTS/action hybrid naval game. I'd take it over World of Warships any day.

Valkyrie Chronicles - Japanese turn based strategy game in a fake pseudo WW2 universe, very weird and very cool and very fun.

The Golf Club - a very fun "pure" golf game without a bunch extra modes but with great controls, it very much reminds of the old Links games which were my favorites. You can create your own courses and play on other's created courses giving you a huge amount of free courses to play on.

It's VERY hard to describe or understand Undertale unless you've played it.
It's a game that's CONSTANTLY messing with your mind, testing the limits of what a game is, and how we see and play games in general.
I fully recommend playing it. It's really great.

@madpossum

+1 on Darksider games, Kingdoms of Amalur and Mark of the Ninja. I believe all three titles need extra attention. Especially Kingdoms of Amalur.

I also installed Valkyria Chronicles yesterday. Never played it in PS3 era and I can not wait for it to be honest.

Got both of these in my backlog, nice. I'm looking forward to getting to Undertale the most as I love the quirky.

Actually, there's two more games I feel should really be on this list:

- Thomas Was Alone. It's very difficult for me to explain just how good the narrative and the narrator are in this game. The story works amazingly well, despite all of the characters being rectangles of various colors and sizes. Actually, it works really well because of that. It really impressed me with how it managed to weave the narrative and the mechanics of the game together into one top-notch experience. I don't usually like puzzle games that much, but this one I very gladly make an exception for.

- Bastion. Another one that's actually received quite a bit of coverage already, but since Thomas Was Alone had me thinking about games with great narration, I felt like I should give Bastion another shout out. There's very few games, indie or otherwise, that do as good a job of narration as Bastion does. The game itself is really quite fun, and has a couple of cool mechanics, but it's really the narration and the amazing soundtrack that make it shine, in my opinion. I love the atmosphere in this game, and in case you somehow hadn't heard about it yet, I very warmly recommend it.
