random BSODs on 6700K

Thread Starter
I recently started getting BSODs on my new build. I thought it was caused by Asus AI Suite 3 (I've read it causes bsod), but after i tried to reinstall Windows 10 it happened during the installation. I tried 4 different USB keys for installing Windows 10 but same on all of them. I could not install windows.

The bsods are different: uncorrectable error, watchdog timeout, your computer ran into problem and needs to restart, etc ...

Then I went to BIOS and changed settings to Gamer's OC profile and after that everything works fine. No BSODs but then there is a different problem; PC freezes after some time and even the reset button doesnt work. I must hold power button to shut it down. As soon as i return BIOS settings to default, BSODs are back.

Can it be a faulty CPU? It was never overclocked and it worked perfect for about 2 months

You can try with another PSU if you have one.
Why you might not want to buy a Corsair RM PSU

Try doing it with one stick of ram first. Also, instead of using XMP, setup your ram manually and also bump the ram voltage. Still, any excuse to buy new stuff is a good thing. biggrin.gif

tried that, no luck...

also i removed my GPU and still the same problem, as soon as the windows logo boots i get bsod

phase1_inialization failed,
machine-check exception,
memory_management
or kernel security check error

sometimes bsods are missing letters, like the image is corrupted

You dont need more then a good 550 watt if you are not going to BIOS volt mod your video card or add another one.

ok, so it's not PSU. I bought new one and the problem is still the same. I found multiple threads on internet with same problem as mine and after they replaced the skylake cpu it solved it. I guess the new chips are more faulty.

But what i don't understand is why do I get BSOD's on default bios settings (auto voltage). If I load gamer's OC preset which overclocks the CPU, I can get into Windows normally and work normally until computer randomly freezes at some point

It was indeed the CPU. Got a new one and it's working fine now. I found several people posting the same problems...
