Purchased this 1080p gsync monitor. Should be expecting it Tuesday. Anyone with color profiles for this monitor and is 180hz good or bad?

I now own a Acer XB241H and the only thing I am having issue with is 180hz overclock. When I enable it the colors are washed out. I may call support to determine the issue. At 144hz with G-sync enabled it is a awesome looking display. The only negative I can think of is the OSD menu is terrible to navigate.

I had one and returned it due to dead pixel and poor backlight uniformity. I also had an issue with the 180hz overclock. Seems like it just blows out the backlighting - blacks were gray and colors were washed out. Had some buggyness with the osd when changing the low blue light settings and brightness. Seemed like changing one would reset the other, but eventually I got it right.

With the new Asus 1080p 180hz and 240hz monitors coming out, it doesn't seem wise to bother with this one imo.

I am successfully running it now with 180hz with good colors and minor blacklight bleed, which is to be expected on fast TN displays. I have no dead pixels. So far this is the best gaming monitor I have owned. The g-sync is fantastic and the 180hz is just icing on the cake since 120-144hz is plenty enough.

Should anyone find a good ICC profile let me know. I can also list my settings I use if anyone wants. Good Luck and have fun.

The new Asus 180hz will be the same panel as this Acer and will also lose its contrast when OCed, that's just the nature of these TN panels, the higher you push the refresh rate the worse the image gets. Even with any current 144hz monitor i've tested between 60hz and 144hz there was some amount of lost contrast, though newer panels suffer a bit less from that phenomenon.

The 240hz Asus on the other hand is actually interesting because its using a totally new panel as it appears to be native 240hz and not at all OCed. It's probably going to cost an exorbitant amount of $$$ like $499 at least because of Gsync and having the new flashy 240hz spec, and i just can't pay that much for a 1080p TN panel rolleyes.gif

I turned of Adaptive Contrast because it did wash out the colors running at 180hz overclocked refresh rate. (see refresh rate in corner of screen) This is not a IPS panel of course but I knew that and I was using this for gaming first and foremost.

My android camera is kinda crappy. I wish I had a Galaxy S7. tongue.gif

Cons: I wish I had a ICC profile or the monitor itself would allow importing of custom display settings like my BenQ did, but sadly it does not. The only reason I left my BenQ is because it did not support g-sync. Sadly they only support Adaptive Sync now on newer monitors. frown.gif The BenQ also had a better OSD menu and easier navigation controls.

Pros: This monitor has great pixel image quality and the games look crisp during gameplay. Overwatch looks awesome!

So i destroyed my XB240H, cracked the lcd panel in the bottom right and it pretty much became unusable after that incident. I bought the monitor for $230 on clerance so its not a drastic loss, but still unfortunate.

Anyways i went to the store and grabbed the XB241H and am happy to report that i got a very good one indeed. My settings are as follows:

Brightness: 17
Contrast: 50
Gamma: 2.2
Color Temp: User
R: 45
G: 44
B: 51
Everything else is default, and i have left the monitor at 144hz as overclocking the panel greatly reduces contrast and kills the image quality more than it already is for being a TN.

That said here are some screenshots of my calibration results: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Ignore the grey line, thats the gamma curve for BT.1886 and i did a power law gamma 2.2 calibration

Here is my icc profile for anyone that wants to try my settings: XB241H12016-06-1623-262.2SXYZLUTMTX144hz.zip 688k .zip file
