7th BOINC Pentathlon - Marathon (Citizen Science Grid) Project Support - Page 15

post #141 of 191
CSG won't pull up on my end either, which saddens me because now I'm out of CSG units for the first time since day 2 of the Pentathlon o_O But manager can connect just fine.

....Two minutes later aaaand I can get into the website, weird.

EDIT (15 minutes later): Finally installed BOINC tasks... And I kind of like it. Any way to make it calculate estimated times for work units a little better, and to be able to force something to update regardless of whether a cpu queue is technically full or not?

don't know about the estimated time calculation. Boinctasks doesn't do anything automatically with the updating, that is with the project. You can either use boincupdater or one of the simple scripts that I and others have posted to get updates to happen more often.

CSG just came back online for me.  I had about 25 tasks waiting to upload, did a manual updates, and away they went. :D

Code:
for /l %%x in (1, 1, 1000) do (
   echo %%x
   "c:\Program Files\Boinc\boinccmd.exe" --project http://csgrid.org/csg/ update
   ping 127.0.0.1 -n 180 > nul
)

open notepad and paste the above code in. save in C:\ProgramData\Boinc\updater.cmd
the -n 180 part of the ping command will run about every 3 minutes.
just open a cmd window cd C:\ProgramData\Boinc
execute updater.cmd

To stop it ctrl C
it will ask "terminate batch job" press y and enter

Do you have to leave the cmd window open, or is it safe to close that?

Open a terminal.

That should update once a minute on the local system.  Adjust the timer as you see fit.  ^C to stop it.

Thank you for this grouphug.gif Uber hug for you thumb.gif CSG working away again.

I'm sure I'll live. No matter what though, I've seen some benefits out of it so I definitely can't complain ^_^

That got it to work on one PC. I had already moved the remote_host and gui_rpc_auth settings. Just editing cc_config with the below allowed for the BoincTask to work.
Code:
<options>
<allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc>
</options>

The other PC wasn't working. Later found out the cat cable fell out of the switch. Oops haha. I was moving the PCs right next to the window fan. Man its sure cooler in this room now with the fan pulling that heat right outside.

This sure does have a lot of options. Things that the manager should just have.

The website to register for the Boinctask cloud is down. Is there a place to configure it to be something else? HFM for folding as an html output option that I dump to Dropbox which I can open anywhere on my phone just to check on things.

Now 50 with almost 103 hours to go. I think CSG is our best chance at overall fourth place. Iff we dont tank in the Sprint.
