I"m running this on six machines now. So far only a few WU's have validated and one of the machines now has 50 some odd WU awaiting validation.

So's I check out the server status page thinking that with so many new WU's being issued that validation could take some time. (as waiting for wingmen to return matching results)

And I find that the validators are turned off on the site.

I wonder what's up with that?

If I had to guess, they most likely figured that thousands of people were wanting work units to crunch and they turned off the validators to add resources to unit generation because most people are bunkering right now anyway.

I can understand that, demand scaling.

But what happens on the other end?
Eventually all these WU's have to be validated....

He now runs into a much more difficult resource problem to solve.

Not complaining mind you, just interesting to see how different people handle different issues differently.

Once CSG units become available the load on POGS will be a lot less and they will probably have no trouble keeping up. Almost every machine in the competition is crunching POGS right now.

You might want to block communication with the upload site anyway and save the completed WU's for June 6.  They aren't counting towards the Pentathlon until then.

I can't get any more tasks. frown.gif I'll have all mine completed in a few hours.

Nothing for me either. I set the "Limit Upload Rate" to .01 KB/sec in Options -> Computing Preferences Network tab and got the same thing you did when I did an update. I even tried letting a few units upload hoping I would get a big batch, but I got nothing. I still have a little less than 1/2 of the work units I downloaded originally to crunch on.

113 units done and 19 to be completed/part way done.

Edit: Most of those done so I got a Mint install in a VM to work on some more units. Now to figure out the linux host. smile.gif Although I could probably just grab a bunch and suspend network activity.

I installed a VM to get more POGs as well.  When it is fetching new work it is only bringing in one task at a time, unlike a few days ago when it seemed like every update I was getting 100 new tasks until I reached the limit.  Never going to get a full work queue like this.  I assume this means the project servers are busy.

The VM I installed is 32 bit version of Mint running on a 8320.  Tasks appear to be running very slowly compared to my other systems.

I will be out of POGS work this evening on several machines. After that I will just be sitting here waiting on CSG work.
