Thanks for checking. That's exactly how mine works, the volume level is saved but not the mute status. I wish it would stay muted, but keeping the volume at zero is a good workaround.

Alright, let's talk image retention. Can everyone test using this https://marco.org/rmbp-irtest.html and report their findings? Hoping to hear that some people do not have it, even after 10 minutes.

If that's the case I'm gonna go get mine exchanged for a new one in hopes that it doesn't have it smile.gif

All of them have image retention. It is not intensive and won't be a problem for normal usage, but it is there.

You're positive? ****, that sucks, maybe I will return and go for another model.

Anyone know what is most comparable?

For me it is much better than coil whine or crazy backlight bleed on other models. For now there is nothing comparable to 34UC88/98 in terms of quality. Maybe something new will come out Q3/Q4, but for now there is only bleeding and whining festival.

Honestly I turned my brightness down to 16 because that's where it's comfortable, and now the retention is either very faint or not bothering me. I'm going to keep it, I absolutely love it!

i recently bought a 1070 and ive been considering on getting either an 88/98. does it make sense to buy this monitor to use it with a 1070? or should i just wait to maybe get a x34 or the asus one once prices drop.

i really like this monitor so i would like to buy it but dont know if i would enjoy as much with this video card.

i will mostly play fps games like battlefield 1, some cod games. doom.

Anyone here with a 1070 that might give some insight about this ?

thanks

Well, I am using 0% and this is still too bright at night and I am using brightness settings for graphics card to lower the brightness even more for non-gaming purposes during the night, so this is why I am not bothered with retention, like you said it is small for lower brightness, and this screen is bright as fcuk, no need to use high brightness settings.

Asus and Acer prices will never drop to UC88 level and prices and also they are faulty garbage.

I had 980 Ti with UC98 so this is basically the same like 1070. Very most of games maxed out, those mentioned by you should run easy, but in ones like Witcher 3 some settings downgrade is needed, you cannot max everything out even on 980 Ti and even without hairworks, so for 3440x1440 you will need to downgrade some of most demanding settings like Foliage Distance and etc. But overall 1070 is enough if you are okay with lowering settings to like High in the most demanding games and to Medium in the most broken ones. And those are very few, most of games will run 3440x1440 maxed out on 1070 24/7. If you are not Ultra freak then go ahead and don't worry.

You can also check upcoming monitor, from what I remember Samsung has 3440x1440 100 Hz FreeSync scheduled for Q3. Not really a fan of their VA panels, but there are people who like them.

so then i shouldn't worry about a lot of screen tearing since i wouldn't be going a lot over 60 fps right ?, I will be considering moving on to an AMD card to take advantage of freesync in the future, so i guess im fine.....

ill let you guys know when I get it biggrin.gif

something else, there is a local retailer here whre i can get a uc98 for about 850 - 900usd but on massdrop i can get a uc88 for 659 usd + 70 shipping. Does it make sense to spend the extra cash for having maybe a better local warranty or to get the massdrop deal with the risk of getting a faulty unit ?
