( sorry its so grainy i had a hard time getting the bleed to show on this panel )

Unfortunately, The backlight bleed on the 87c is much worse in person than it is in these pictures. it really is a deal breaker. The 88-b However, has almost no back light bleed in person except for a tiny bit on the bottom left hand side.

here is them next to each other running vally for the hell of it.

The colors are also represented very differently by these 2 monitors. Again, its something you must see in person. Whites are much more white on the 88b.

Here is a vid of valley running https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8ZUkhXKZRU

Here is pictures of how different whites are between these 2. 88b on the left

Thank you for the pictures. Would you say the UC88 has backlight bleeding in the corners or is that IPS glow?

The 88 only has a tiny bit of bleed on the bottom left ( on mine ). Everything else is ips glow. In person, i can only see bleed from the bottom left. Very minimal. The 87c bleeds everywhere.

I have exact the same experiences with UC98 vs older panels. It has some blue bleed in left bottom corner and thats it, the rest is IPS glow. Other displays were bleeding like crazy with yellow glow basically all around the bezels. Also white is something that struck me on this monitor when first used, they are so much richer and more intensive than in other monitors I saw/had. It is generally super bright monitor, I had to not only set brightness to 0% but also decrease some things in graphics card drivers to make it not eye hurting at night.

With ICC profile and some other adjustments colors can be really stunning if good quality picture is displayed. When I hear about things like HDR or OLED displays I don't really see how picture can be better. I mean OLED won't have glow issues and black levels will be better with HDR, but in terms beautiful picture full of rich colors, I cannot see something significantly better, except for glow and black levels, those indeed need fixing. I don't buy all of this marketing crap showing desaturated foggy pictures that are supposed to show how our displayes are looking right now, and then on the other side of a picture there is oversaturated image that is suppose to show how superior HDR is.

Pretty much every other panel i have seen from acer dell asus all have massive backlight bleed issues. It seems lg really figured it out on this one. This will be my panel untill oled becomes more widespread.

I think you are safe with the bleed on the 88, they seem to be have good review and people on here seem to be reporting well on them. But its certainly not cheap. If i pay this much i want it to be perfect.

Certainly. I got the flat version so I'm curious to know what the difference is. It arrives on Wednesday.

For my UC88, it's mostly the bottom left corner that has bleed, but is reduced with some pressure on the bezel (using paper in between bezel and panel or tape). The rest of the monitor is good but does have IPS glow throughout.

I guess I should expect BL Bleed in the bottom left corner but then again, my monitor isn't curved. The jury is out....

Its interesting why all UC88s and UC98s always have bleed in this left bottom corner, why specifically there. So close to be perfect, and yet there is this small blue bleed in one corner to annoy you everytime 16:9 content with black bars on the side or in black background menus like in The Witcher 3...

Fortunately this is not really visible while playing games, recently I played a lot of dark dungeons in Titan Quest and driven during the night in Euro Truck Simlator 2 quite frequently and I was never bothered by bleed or glow and never noticed it, I could just focus on game. I remember on Dell U3415W, both units, driving in ETS2/ATS during the night was a nightmare, so much yellow bleed, it was almost like the entire extra space granted by 21:9 was lost to those freaking yellow stains biggrin.gif

I was so disappointed with Dell back then, I had perfect U2515H and hoped for quality display with U3415W, but then they didn't only sell me super faulty display, but also sent me similar one for replacement.
