Intel 750 400GB NVME drive on the way. $349 free shipping from Newegg. redface.gif

It's slower than the Sammy 950 Pro and 960 Pro but I have to gather my bearings man.

How can I judge Broadwell E simple computing responsiveness when my SSD I'm using now is from the Stone Age? sad-smiley-002.gif

Intel 520 from 2012.

May be the worst purchase I ever made, in four months the Sammy 960 will launch and later Intel 3D X Point, cannot explain my reasoning.

Extremely poor financial sense determination.

I will somehow find a way to carry on. redface.gif

The Original from 1939 So much better. tongue.gif

ruffbro, you definitely need a good silicone insert when bending. I had to get the 16mm Barrow silicone insert off ebay to get nice clean bends. PS, those gloves are so awesome! I go commando when bending tubes, they sure get hot!

Side note, I just got home and looked over at the build and had a sudden realization of utter disappointment... I had ordered a black 120 flexbay... my 280 flexbay is gunmetal. Bam 1 week of waiting all for nothing. The darn thing comes in on Thursday as well. AAAHHHHHHHH! Brothers, what do I do? Go on without the flexbay? Or wait another week for the gunmetal?! I'm so lost and confused sad-smiley-002.gif

Wait another week, i'm on the waiting boat too and i learned to wait for the best stuff rather than getting something i'm not happy with.

Bruce, why do you need a light speed SSD anyway ? I would get a Sammy 950 or something similar for video editing or constantly manipulating large files, otherwise, a good M.2 with good IOPS and endurance which does not reach insane temps is what i want. From what i read about 3D Xpoint, it's gonna be insanely quick with a good endurance, i'm eager to see what Intel will come up with.

I think TUFinside is right about waiting. No need to rush to finish the build. Remember using the PC isn't as enjoyable as building it.

No rush, but this is how I'll feel when I pick up my case:

Damn ruffi, I didn't expect the Monsoons to be that far off the margin. I definitely noticed the flat spot on your first bend and that pic explains it! mad.gif

I'm in talks with Icemodz right now. Soon™

That's where I'm getting my custom PSU cables for the Seasonic Prime Titanium 850watt.

Mundi from IceModz.com is checking to see if the connectors are the same as previous skus OR if the new Prime models have been changed.

Just now found this on Newegg, looks like the Prime Titanium 750watt will launch first, the page is up yet incomplete, if Newegg follows their same pattern (and they always do) should be able to order one either later today July 14th OR by Friday July 15th.

$179 for the 750watt, so the 850watt will be probably $199, not too bad, when I picked up the Corsair AX860 (Seasonic is/was the OEM) way back November 2012 when Platinum Grade efficiency first dropped, I paid $219 and the Corsair AXi 860watt was $239 back then. Still using the AX860 in the test bench in Full Hybrid fan mode, its still under 7-year warranty. smile.gif

Plan on using the Seasonic Prime 850watt Titanium in the S8S (well of course DUH! tongue.gif), and moving the Snow Silent white 750watt Platinum into the test bench and no idea what I will do with the old Corsair.

Here's the link

Who's getting one? biggrin.gif

Man... I sorta short myself in the foot tonight... twice! First one, I was making adjustments to the length of the CPU -> Upper Rad bend. I cut the damn thing too short and wasted a perfect piece! That one took 3 tries to get the exact measurements, D'OH! Second booboo, I needed to chop a leg off a failed piece to use as a measurement dummy. I thought I grabbed one from the junk pile... turns out it was the perfect piece from the GPU -> Upper Rad! That one took 6 tries to get just right. mad.gif

I'm so disappointed right now, both mistakes were due to not taking my time. Those pieces were like babies to me, first time bending and you get so attached to the good ones lol tongue.gif

I'm half debating on ordering more L Block Adapters and only run straight tubes - $210 mistake in fittings confusedsmiley.pngpuke.gif

Clarity and Focus brother, clarity and focus. A good night's sleep under your belt before your next attempt AND try some of my magic elixir.

Amazing Grass SuperFood (the all green formula), one scoop mixed with 8oz of Tropicana Grapefruit Juice, or fresh squeezed. thumb.gif

What I'm hoping for and a strong portion of my decision to pick up what seems like very old and almost (out)dated tech, the Intel 750 is this leak sheet below which outlines Intel's plan of releasing new 3D Xpoint System Accelerators in the M.2 form factor this coming November/December, and some in the industry believe they will be inexpensive, massive amounts of cache for your existing NVMe drive.

119a_zps45pxohzq.jpg

If they do release as expected as M.2 they will share bandwidth with the Intel 750 seamlessly a simple drop-in, but then if I picked up the Sammy 950 Pro, well like most I only have one M.2 slot so that would not work with the Intel 3D Xpoint System Accelerators at all, unless moving the Sammy to an M.2 to PCIe riser card.

Anyhoo, my Intel 750 shipped yesterday arriving yep you guessed it, another Newegg FedEx Saturday Delivery, what is going on? headscratch.gif

I finished the side-project build yesterday.

Phanteks Evolv Tempered Glass (Silver)
4.8 GHz (Silicon Lottery) i5-6600k
Corsair H115i AIO 280mm
16GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX
MSI 1070 Gaming X
ASUS Z170-A
EVGA P2 650W
Intel 540s 480GB SSD

I finished the assembly & cable management (as best as could be done with stock cables). The LED strip should arrive today. On that note: what the hell, Phanteks? They have a switch on the front of the case to control the LEDs, but then used a proprietary Phanteks connector. On my Primo the switch was connected to Molex power so you could use any LED strip. A minor gripe, but it's not something I'll quickly forget either.

I ordered all of these parts on Thursday, and the CPU was the last part to arrive (having to come through Canadian customs delayed it a day). Meanwhile, at Case Labs:
