Build Log - [Millennium] - Mercury S8S - Page 177

I may have found a break in the "3 over 3" case.

Apparently I can only have 4 monitors per card. If that's true, I'll just have to move one of my Surround monitors to the second 1080 and I should be all set.

What's your voltage point for 38 cache? System freezing generally relates to unstable cache overclock. Unstable cache can also migrate to memory instability as well. 24/7 BW-E I would stay under 1.3V cache. Try 37 cache multiplier with an offset voltage equal to 1.25 or less. Run Aida 64 cache test and if it passes for 2~3 hours you should be good to move onto memory.

For your memory, do not rely on XMP. At the very least, set your primary timings and leave your secondary/tertiary clocks on auto. Set your System Agent (VCCA) to 1.0v, ram voltage to 1.4v, speed to 3200 or 3400MHz (BW-E sweet spot is 3400) and use 16-16-16-38 as your primary timings. I'm not so sure your lower bin sticks will be able to make 3400 work, but 3200 might be doable.

CPU Stress Test - Blend of 1) RealBench 4 ~ 8 hours, max ram. 2) x265 4k 4x pmode with a variance of less than 10%. 3) Full gaming session

Cache Stress Test - Blend of 1) Aida64 Cache Test 3~4 hours. 2) Full gaming session

Memory Stress Test - 1000% HCI Memtest (your cpu is a 6 core, so you would open 12 instances of memtest and allocate ~85-90% of your total free ram ~Approx 2200MB each instance)

*HCI is also very sensitive to Cache instability. If you find your Aida64 run successful and then start to experience HCI errors, try and bump your cache voltage up incrementally to 1.3v

"Prime is Seasonic's first total platform redesign in 10years"

So claims PCPerspective at 28minutes into the podcast.

Maybe that's why it took so long to launch.

Haha, all good if it makes you excited! That just means it'll be Christmas in August when you receive the PSU tomorrow.

Side note - I want the SMA8 going forward, but do you guys think it'll look too nekkid if I use only 1 Titan X? Bruce was definitely right, it's not just the case that's a big expense, but the hardware + fittings needed to "filler out" is exponentially more than the S8S! eek.gif

Seasonic added a digital portion to the new Prime Titaniums and I'm trying to read up on what part of the PSU is now digital.

I don't believe its all digital like some of the Corsair designs (not that that's necessarily better), but some sub-assembly VRM or PWM is digital and that's I guess a first for Seasonic. Researching to find out. smile.gif

Looks really clean inside.

Just for you iBruce I made this meme just for you... But I am sure it will arrive safely to you smile.gif

My friends prime is arriving tomorrow so I will be able to take a closer look at it but still can not believe that it is a titanium rating that is crazy wheee.gif

Sprill, I just read over my post again and think I may have been too lenient on the cache voltage @ 37 multiplier. You may need to bring that up from 1.25 ~ 1.3v for 3700MHz. I based the 1.25 given your exceptional CPU overclock, but don't be too bummed out if you need to raise it a few notches for 37. 38 is most definitely pushing the top percentile of BW-E cache overclocking since the OC socket now does not help as much as it did for HW-E.

I'm pretty sure this is the problem. Per my notes I only have the cache at 1.15V right now.

That could be our culprit right there.

Should arrive tomorrow morning Friday at 10:30am, FedEX is always on time.

Here's the Kitguru 850w review.

And the Jonnyguru 750w review.

From upper left in the photo below, KingPin GPU, then 8-pin CPU, then Molex for AquaComputer D5 PWM, Aquaero 6 and PowerAdjust 3 Ultra. (May use two Molex cables or a splitter)

Down below, 24-pin for the motherboard. .

Seems like so many connectors left over? Yea, I could have gotten by with the 650 or 750watt units, if only considering connectivity or the entire load range 0 to 100%, but the 850watt unit has the greatest efficiency between 10% and 20% Load, and that's where the S8S work rig will spend most of its time. Negligible considering waste heat? Probably, but it gave me a solid mathematical argument to get the 850watt. biggrin.gif
