I've had mostly good experiences dealing with Daz, but working on Arcane Sanctum I had a negative one. Disclaimer: it was my fault, but the customer is always right. Certainly we could blame the interpretive tones of email communication and/or second languages being involved, but it left a sour taste in my mouth regardless.
I accidentally ordered the wrong sized soft-tube fittings for my build (5/8" OD instead of 1/2"). I took them out of the bags to take a photo for the build log before realising my error.
Anyway, I emailed Daz to ask about a partial credit later that night.
The soft tubing and compression fittings I ordered aren't the size I intended. These eight 3/8"ID - 5/8"OD Straight Compression Fitting - Black Nickel are too large and won't be used in my loop. I did remove the fittings from the bag to take a photo, but I'd be happy to send the fittings back for any partial credit you'd be willing to consider.
I then went on to explain that I had a long list of items that I was about to purchase for my build to see if that would help my cause.Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
What I was going to order:
14 - 3/8"ID - 1/2"OD Straight Compression Fitting - Black Nickel
~12-20 - Ultra Clear Tubing (3/8 - 1/2) 10/12mm Tubing
9 - 90 Degree Rotary Adapter M/F G1/4 Black Sparkle BP-BS90R
2- 90-Degree With Dual Inner G1/4" Extender - Black Sparkle
5 - EK-AF Pass-Through G1/4 - Black Nickel
4 - G1/4" Bitspower Multi-Link Adapter Low Profile - Black Sparkle (Single fitting)
2 - Bitspower - Ball Shutoff Mini-Valve - Black Sparkle
8 - Bitspower - Premium G1/4" Black Sparkle Stop Fitting
2 - Bitspower - 4-way Splitter, Q Block Crossconnect Adapter - Black Sparkle
6 - Bitspower - 5mm Spacer Extender Adapter - G1/4 Male/Male - Black Sparkle
He responded with a one liner:
Sorry, but I only can accept return of unopened items.
Also explaining that some soft goods are final sale (tubing etc).
I wasn't expecting a full refund by any means but I was frustrated by this response. For a 10% store credit on the returned fittings (~$9) I would have at least felt that Daz was willing to provide a viable option to what was a frustrating mishap. While I'm sure he certainly didn't mean it, this basically came through as "Sorry not sorry, f--- you, you're on your own!
" and it cost him my order (which I placed with Performance PCs later that day).
Forget partial credit, even a haphazard explanation of why this was the policy would have preserved my order.
I've since placed orders for some odds and ends with Dazmode and certainly wouldn't hesitate to do business with him, but that's the value (and cost, in this instance) of customer service.
