As much crap as BF3 got, I enjoyed it much more and the maps were WAY better than BF4. That would be a sad day indeed.

LoL! I took the day off to play and record. Played maybe 2-3 hrs. At one point when we were finally able to log in no had any weapons. That was fun. Riding a horse avoiding getting shot at. LoL

I agree! Much more fun than I expected.

I don't think it's a reskin. Feels a bit different. It's definitely more fun to play than BF4. Squad is definitely good but if you get a bad squad or a bad round it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. And I've been playing Squad since before closed pre-alpha.

I love the scout class. Had some epic rounds last night. And no they are not OP. God if I hear one more person say that...... Train is cool. It does exactly what I expected it to do. Tanks are destructive as hell and I like the repair feature.

There's a bazillion other thoughts also but I kept it short.

Well I played a bit more last night. I agree with those here saying that it feels reskinned. I will just continue to play BF4 until another fps comes along to steal my heart away, this one isn't doing it for me.

Battlefront and BF4 had a baby that likes to play dress up and pretend it's living in 1914.

Squad is a completely different game, but I've put about 100 hours into it, which is way more then i've played any other game in the past couple of years.

For a Battlefield title I think they nailed it. I love the WWI theme, I love the gritty feeling, the no missile lock ons from airplanes and self guiding rockets, the sound stage is absolutely amazing - they seem to one up every time since BF3. A good set of headphones and loud volume makes the whole thing epic. I am also jealous of those with 21:9 monitors. The cavalry class also is the most badass thing I have ever encountered. At one point I slayed down two guys with the sword, jumped off the horse, melee'd another guy on the ground (also with a sword), got in a short firefight - totally sealed the deal for me. I think this game is awesome. Down to the localized voiceovers and the graphics are quite stunning. If there is one thing i'm glad they ported over from SW:Battlefront it was the engine upgrades and visuals - the UI will take some getting used to, but I believe that is only because we've been used to the BF3/4 UI for so long. I'm also glad they didn't pansy out and that there is an overlay when you're wearing the gas mask. Lots of small touches make BF4 feel pretty bland by comparison, BF1 is more epic.

Overall I love it and am not at all having buyers remorse from pre-ordering.

Is anybody else getting input lag when they upscale their resolution?
I've heard it's a somewhat common issue. frown.gif

I had that, but I thought/was told it was related to DX12?

I realize they're two very different games. I just wanted BF to return to it's roots with a slightly slower pace where you actually had to stop and shoot or prone for accuracy and such. Probably sounding like a broken record at this point as i've said this since BF3 and it's abundantly clear it's not going to be that way for some time. I feel like BF3/4 and now 1 are an amalgam of COD type pace on an open battlefield with destruction, vehicles, and squads. It's become more of a run N gun shooter than the previous iterations that implemented more teamwork. Like i said when i saw WWI before prototype weapons were announced i was ecstatic. I'm glad games like Squad exist none the less because it satisfies that niche that i've always wanted. A game with near ARMA realism that is much more accessible than ARMA but built around teamwork. I wish it had the player base of a triple A title like BF or COD, just so it would always be easy to find games.

Unfortunately for you there aren't that many people that want a slow paced game focused on strategy and teamwork, at least not in comparison to how many people want the fast paced run-n-gun style. I enjoy slower paced single player games but I can't stand having to try and coordinate and talk to strangers in multiplayer games.

I enjoy teamspeak while I play games but the people in Teamspeak aren't the people I am playing a game with, well one of them usually is.

The funny thing is that BF got bit after BF3 so BF Veterans are the minority.

What did it for me was a moment when this guy got in to a firefight. We both missed each other with our main weapons, pulled our pistols and unleashed. I ultimately lost but it was damn fun. Gave me that BF42 feel that I miss.

You're absolutely right. I miss the original BF42, BFV, FH2. Since BF2 I felt the series slide backwards a ton. BF3 was bad but not nearly as bad as BF4. A game shouldn't make you wish for the previous version back. As Squad grows there will be more people to play it. Look at Insurgency. That's completely taken off.
