A lot of exciting news this week regarding maps and game modes!

Honestly, I'm not surprised about the dedicated servers. It got way out of hand in BF4. I would be willing to bet the high ticket Locker and Metro servers aided in their decision.

So is the custom server stuff you guys are talking about just speculation at this point or have they stated that you wouldn't be able to have servers with limited weapons,,high tickets etc...

Speculation from gsp's and what they heard. No official confirmation yet.

Well that would be a shame. I was thinking that custom servers with limited weapon loadouts might actually make the game enjoyable for me.

I have the odd good rounds, but I find it's important to play on a server frequently and get to know the admins. I really believe the best and fairest servers rise to the top. Those with bad admins lose player count over time.
I personally don't mind hackers/cheat/exploiters. Ya it sucks for a bit but eventually they'll either get banned or kicked.

Pretty much this. I'll be looking for deals around launch. Just too pricey at the moment.

I like the versatility that BF series has always offered. Every server had it's own personality. EA trying to hard to control everything to make it the same.

Never been a fan of these servers but like I stated above I always liked the different environments the servers offered.

There is difference between Official / Ranked / Custom.

Think almost everybody really cares about Ranked servers, which can have "custom modes" enforced through a point system / kicking etc, but really bends no rules or alters game mechanics = thus counts "as much as" an official server for game progression = thus part of the "Ranked" servers.

Almost nobody really cares playing without getting his/her kills & achievements registered / counting towards unlocking guns & awards, unless it is for briefly testing something wild unchallenged.

You might care playing in non-explosive TDM or pistol only etc modes, always "soft-enforced" through scripts / admins. No custom "rule bending" needs to be hard-coded.

IMHO, BF1 absolutely needs user-owned Ranked servers. That's what most clans use to build and strengthen their community, and that scales up to the whole BF community being strong.
Battlefront didn't have those and I believe its one of the main reasons it demised so much faster than the vast majority of the Battlefield games.

I hope this is the right thread for this question..

For BF1, If I'm using W7 with a 980TI, do I need to upgrade to W10 for DX12? is it worth it? or can I stick to W7?

thanks!
Looking at the (lop-sided) system specs, I fully expect to be able to max BF1 at 1080p with my sig rig with no issues.

All I know is in the beta, if you were an Nvidia user, DX11 was the way to go.

New servers are hosted by major HaaS companies like Amazon AWS etc.. And will have a default and stock rcon.

What this means is that admins have less controls to ban weapons, playing styles etc... (which is good, i hate servers that ban certain weapons) and it also means that the larger HaaS companies are able to better handle DDOS attacks. The smaller gsp's were rubbish at this and servers used to go down a day at a time...

Sorry to take so long to get back been very busy .
I have not seen anything official from EA/Dice about any news on how the servers will actually work . What is being said is just speculation . I'm not saying your right or wrong . If you have actual proof please post source . One thing is for certain, EA/Dice is keeping what ever they are doing behind closed doors .

As far as a ban ob certain weapons in these servers, its a fact that some weapons are way to powerful,a curate or other . In BF4 I have been kicked and even told I was a hacker for being to accurate with the shotgun . We all know how EA/Dice is about nerfing of weapons .
