Yeah, that was bothering me. We hardly even saw any footage of the better players there, they kept trying to focus on the celebs.

pre-alpha, seems like a winner in every way a worthy successor of BF2 as it goes.

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to offer my input on the 32 vs 32 1 hour gameplay and what I think about the game.

  1. I think the scale of the maps looks a bit small. I was hoping they would be larger, a bit more BFBC2 / BF2 sized. But the map sizes could be varied and there is potential for larger maps to exist.
  2. I think the vehicle-play, gun-play, weapon animations, character voices, and character animations all look absolutely STUNNING.
  3. I think the graphics looked quite good as well. This will definitely be the prettiest Battlefield game to date.
  4. I do not like the very "cortana-esque" announcer in the game. It just doesn't fit the dark and scary atmosphere of WWI in my option. I think they should definitely replace it with the voice a squad captain or something. It just needs more yelling.
  5. I was absolutely THRILLED to see that you could pilot / man the guns of the air ships. That is fantastic!
  6. I was also happy to see that almost every weapon was available with some sort of scope, and that the iron sights of most guns didn't completely suck.

All in all I think this game is going to blow the doors off of any previous FPS games in recent history. Even if you are unsure about BF: 1 I would definitely not count it out based on the very rushed footage that was shown today. I could never really get a good "sense" of the game because they kept switching POVs every 30 seconds.

Also, if you missed the 1 hour "Battlefield Squads" gameplay, you can view it on DICE's official "Battlefield" Twitch channel. The gameplay starts at about 01:59:00 and ends at about 02:48:00: https://www.twitch.tv/battlefield/v/72078007

I will be looking forward to reading more of your impressions!

Edit: Also, I have updated the OP with all relevant information and will be adding more throughout the day as I gather it up.

Somewhat offtopic, but does anyone know what the little light bars are called that seemed to be under every PC monitor during the multiplayer gameplay? those things look sweet and i cant really seem to find anything like them anywhere.

DICE seems to be fine tuning the gameplay here and getting back to what made BF a great game, while adding new elements to compliment the gameplay. The random fog, smoke, and rain elements add to the gameplay and immersion. The attachment system from BF4 looks to be gone. The UI is greatly miniumized and no longer looks like a roadmap. Even with the stream quality, its a definite step up in terms of graphics (gonna need a new gpu). Gamers itching for more destruction will have a hard time finding any faults in the showcased level. So far so good. I look forward to seeing more maps.

On release trailer announcement I was unsure about the game though looked great as most trailers do. After watching the live multiplayer last night I am sold. Looked great. recently returned to bf4 after a 16 month layoff and ready for this new game right now to be honest.
