Well color me impressed. I didn't watch it live but I was pretty impressed with the gameplay. I wasn't hugely impressed with the stream itself, I would have preferred an option to have game sounds without the amateur hour commentators and it would have been nice to not have the POV change every 30 seconds.

The high points for me were the weapons (looks like proper recoil), the destruction and the weather. If it was up to me I would turn the fog dial up to 100 and give a single finger salute to all the snipers. I am definitely going to buy the game and I will probably end up pre-ordering once it gets close to launch.

While im not a big sniper fan, ill give respect for the bolt-action rifle user. One shot. One kill. No automatic, long range, 12x scope bs. Thats enraging. I'm eager to see some good dog fights actually. Levolution is still intact, hopefully we'll see that desert sandstorm that was suppose to be in BF4....

Why do we use BF2 as the base line? It was a terrible game. doh.gif

Couldn't disagree more.

The Bad
To be honest it looked a bit too cartoonie. I honestly wouldn't mind the blue tint from BF3 back or at the very least dull it down some. Perhaps a small amount of green tint as used in movies like Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers.

Gameplay seemed like unorganized chaos. No better than BF4, Hardline, or Battlefront. Sad really but that type of gameplay sells to the kiddies.

Maps seem small.

Did not like the UI AT ALL!!!! Seriously need to lose those giant damn red and green pizza's over people's head.

Still clunky.

The Good
The graphics are stunning. I am seriously impressed with the design and layout. Looks like there will be some epic gun play.

Didn't see entire maps so there is still hope.

Still alpha. I would assume EA has learned their lesson from the failures of BF4 and it will be much more "polished" upon release.

I will still buy this just because it's WW1. thumb.gif

I am not sure how you could judge how organized the gameplay was or wasn't with the point of view changing all the time. The stream was changing players constantly which is most likely what made it seem like chaos. And of course it was also a big mix of different people with a lot of them playing the game for the first time. Either way, organization is up to the players not the game, I am sure the squad command options are available for any squad leader to use if they want to be organized.

As far as the colors, I liked the look but I doubt it is the final product. I'm sure they will do exactly what you said and put all kinds of stupid filters making the colors totally bogus and "cinematic", or what I would call cartoonish.

I agree about the circles over the head, didn't care for that at all. Hopefully the UI can be customized like BF4 and that stuff can be tailored to personal preference.

I can always try and dig up more screencaps and more RAW gameplay videos from people who were at the EA Play event for you guys if you want. Just be sure to let me know.

Enjoy!

I have to say: It was a ballsy move to livestream that 32v32 gameplay. Ballsy. We're still months out from a BETA they just laid their cards on the table--I loved that. Hell, I respected that.

The game looked good. Couple of things I agree could be tweak like the "pizzas" and character outlines. But the game looked really good.

After watching the raw footage posted above I can see myself getting booted from a lot of hardcore servers from TK'ing. It's gonna be like bad company 2 where I get in a vehicle just so that I can go around blowing up buildings.

wow!

Frostbite Engine games have generally fared pretty well on my 295x2. I can still play BF4 on High - Utlra settings at 3440 x 1440p with 60+ fps, so I would hope that Battlefield: 1 performs about the same. I am holding out for that GTX 1080 Ti. It has been a long time coming, but hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer.

Ah yes, the good old days of "which team can completely level the map fastest?"
