In BF4 most guns take 5 chest shots within 50 meters to get a kill because the damage models of standard assault guns have 24.5 damage. So you are required to use guns that have 800+ RPM minimum or you get outgunned really bad. Past 100 meters it turns into 6-7 shot kills. If the enemy has the defensive perk, it turns into 7 shot kills minimum
For the size of these game maps, you think the weapon damage wouldn't drop off within 15 meters and be minimal damage by 75. But for whatever reason it does. If I see someone over 200 meters in normal mode, there's no point in even attempting to take a shot because it wont hardly do anything.
In BF4 hardcore, I believe you have 70 health which means 3 shot kills under 50 meters. Further out it turns into 4 shot kills and most recon class guns can one shot. The defensive perk may save you from a sniper shot, about a 50% chance which is quite fair. I would expect this sort of damage model out of normal mode, not hardcore.

With mostly semi auto and single shot weapons it will be a nightmare if the damage is similar to BF4 in normal mode.
The thing is, there is still plenty of full auto rifles in BF1 and we haven't seen half the guns. Some weapon kits had 10 more additional weapon selections whited out and listed as coming soon so I imagine even more are on their way.
Some of the DMRs are select fire as well. I'm not real sure about each particular gun, but I doubt most of those were ever modified to be this way in real life as standard issue. Dice tried to add more customization to the limited selection of guns and this is what they did.
At first glance this game looks so awesome, but the more I look into it the more things I don't like.
If there's at least a hardcore mode, I will probably end up buying it. After all, I'v ended up being suckered into buying every BF game made so far for the last 10+ years. Some were great, some not so much.
