It would be amazing if the announcer was really just a placeholder, however, this close to release, I have a hard time believe that they will re-do the entire announcer. But I did find something cool to show you guys, a 70-minute Twitch VOD in pretty good quality showing off some Closed-Alpha gameplay.

TWITCH VOD LINK

EDIT: Reddit thread with archived Closed-Alpha footage that has been taken down!

Enjoy!

Someone posted a picture of the weapon unlocks and they require a certain amount of war bonds to unlock, for each "variation". So 40 War Bonds for the Trench Shotgun HR or LU or whatever the 2-letter name is, haha.

I've got a love-hate thing going for that style of system. I love it because I can unlock exactly what I want, but everybody will be using similar loadouts since everybody wants to the use "best" gun.

I like grinding for weapons in a sense, but I really hated the assignment system in BF4. I really hope it doesn't return with some ridiculous objectives again.

Ah I see... So they are going with the "Hardline System" of unlocking things? I am not sure how I feel about that. I avoided playing Hardline for that reason (and many others) because it made the game not really rewarding to play, as everyone could get "the best" (or the most unbalanced) gun right from the start. But we will see how it goes for BF: 1.

Also, check out this 20 minute long, 4K, NDA-breaking footage straight from the Closed-Alpha:

I agree; that's what I heard, too. Don't waste money on the crap guns. Just grind out and only ever unlock the "super gun". Weapon balance and differentiation is key. Hmm...I hope it's just 5 guns, each with 2 or 3 variations each. I much prefer this to actually 12-14 different guns. That's a lot easier to balance, I think for DICE, and....

...having 12+ guns + 30 attachments each just completely places the psychological focus on "weapons are important" and we lose the "maybe I should be thinking about the objectives". Sure, some of us enjoy both (I'm in that camp), but I think most players just follow DICE's lead: wow, lots of guns to unlock! That's what this game is about, the weapons, the bullet drag, the RPM, etc.

I'm tired of watching videos about gunplay and why this gun is great versus why this gun is slightly more great. And I don't want to have to go to Symthic to learn unexplained, but very important stats. I'm glad they've re-done the whole gun stats page. It always felt insane: you need to go to a 3rd-party website that analyzed the game files to truly understand the pros/cons between these different guns.

The War Bonds, though, hopefully will stop attachment grinding: "Ugh, I really want this scope, but I need 500 kills to unlock all the attachments".

From what I'm thinking: there are 5-6 weapon guns for each class. Each gun has an "attachment package" already: a scope, a grip, a bayonet that all suit each other. None of this heavy barrel + 4x scope + no grip on a FAMAS.

The customization is two-fold: your attachment package and skins. That's it.

EDIT: damn it, the video is "private" already!!

I agree with everything that you have said. Maybe in the context of guns less = more? I will definitely be looking forward to not having to grind out 500 kills just for a nice scope / grip. However, I really just like to play the game with whatever gun suits my "mood". If that makes sense. Sometimes I like to relax and snipe, sometimes I like to rush and use SMG / shotgun, sometimes I like to play defense or support with LMG, or sometimes (most of the time) I like to be a suicidal combat medic that will stop at nothing to revive all of his downed teammates!

Also, you can head over to THIS REDDIT THREAD to grab that 4K footage if you really want to see it. I was able to rip it off YT before it got taken down. thumb.gif
