Pretty cool information. I'm hoping they offer some excusive tags or bonus content for people who completed BF4's phantom program. I forget what it required before but the 3x scope for the 44 and m1911 in BF4 were exclusively for something you did in BF3. I like that kind of stuff. Also for hitting 140 would be nice since I'm near doing that.

  • Graphics are awesome. I was skeptical from all the footage I saw that it would look better than BF4 already did, but it does.
  • The vehicles control much better than they do in BF4 to me. I haven't spent a ton of time playing them but everything felt good.
  • I'm mostly a recon player, and so far I'd say the recon class is at least as powerful as in BF4. The disadvantage I see now is that long shots are even harder since bullet speed plays more of a factor, but the advantage is if you get good at the "sweet spot" mechanic you'll be far more effective than you used to be since chest shots now can one shot from med range or wherever the sweet spot is on each rifle.
  • It's hard to say how the gadgets will end up, but I'm sad that recon (scout) doesn't have the trip wire as far as we can tell yet. Claymore's were my best friend in BF4.
  • Scout also has a anti-tank round which is pretty good against the light armored vehicles, not so much against heavy. It's sold but vs heavy you're useless. You can equip anti-tank nades though as any class in this build.
  • Weather effects are cool, look good and things like fog really change how the game is played. Can be annoying though since it makes bombers or the gunship almost useless when fog is thick.
  • Melee will take me some getting used to, but I do know I like the charge mechanic so far. Not sure how I feel about the melee swinging stuff yet, but I haven't done it much.
  • I think one of the cooler things about the game is just exactly how much stationary weaponary is scattered around the map. Kind of makes up for the smaller weapon selection.
  • Speaking of weapon selection, I think my biggest concern is that there won't be enough weaponary to feel like your making progress like in BF4.
  • The dynamic map and spawn system is fantastic.
  • The spread on most the the full auto-guns is terrible, but I am almost okay with this since they were probably a little to easy in BF4. It does seem to take away a little of the skill element of aiming to an extent, so it would be nice if we could have more of a medium ground. Again not enough time to know for sure.
  • The assaults prone cannon is great, pretty powerful too.
  • Bipods are actually more viable now, and feel much better than BF4. BF4 you'd get stuck in the animation in or out for a bit, now it feels fast and natural. I almost never used a bipod in BF4 because I found them to be more of an annoyance, but in this game I use it all the time.
  • Gas grenades are flipping awesome and I really like what they add to the game. They control space like an incinerary grenade, but they also have the effect of smoke grenades meaning if you aren't inside the smoke with a mask on you really can't see inside. What I would do when hurt, reloading, or surrounded, is throw my gas nades right below me with my mask on and just hide in the smoke. Also when in smoke since you can only use hip fire, choosing a weapon model with better hip fire could be extremely advantageous compared to BF4.
  • The blimp is cool and can be extremely effective from the drivers seat.
  • Sniping pilots in planes does seem much more possible than in BF4. Worst case scenario is you do damage to his plane/wings.
  • The objectives seem to take a long time to cap compared to BF4, but they also seem worth more points.

All I can think of at the top of my head. My main worry is about the progression system and weapon/gadget variety. As I said the stationary weapons on the map do make up for this to an extent, but I will probably miss a lot of the modern gadgets I enjoyed in BF4. Still great though.

Part II about 9 hours in.

  • Assault class probably over all the best class in beta since they have the best tools to deal with tanks. As other famous streamers hinted at, currently tanks can be a bit difficult to kill. Assault is no longer medic, think more like an engineer.
  • Medic class is quite interesting as it uses DMR's. This information is already out there if you watch the streamers, but no charging for heals, so its just full health every time I believe. The problem currently is that since there is basically a bleed out option, it's often very hard to reach people before they just mash bleed to respawn quicker. Not much else to say about this class.
  • IMO the support class is extremely powerful in this build. I haven't experimented with too many of the weapons but one of the machine guns with the long range setup (scope) was extremely deadly at close range as well as far range with the bipod activated. With the new good bipod mechanics this class is actually highly encouraged to take a more realistic LMG role, having to use a bipod, and it's extremely deadly. It's not pin point accurate but it still will down enemies very quickly even from mid-range with a huge spread pattern. Levelcap doesn't like the bipod mechanic but I really think it's smart.
  • To expand on the defensive capabilities of the support class, say you camp one of the towers and bipod everyone down, you can even set trip wires (2) at all the entrances or top of the stairwells, making your position extremely well fortified. To make it even more powerful the ammo box replenishes ammo, gadgets, and nades way way faster than in BF4.
  • Speaking of nades, the Incendiary grenade seems extremely powerful compared to its BF4 version. Let's of an area of effect but far more damage per second. Throw this thing on a fully loaded tank as people leave and you'll probably get a kill or at least really really hurt them bad.
  • The damage is pretty damn cool on this map. An example of how it's for more than just show: I kept running into this defensive attic camper that laid trip wires everywhere in the houses, camping in them @ the cap points. Since every time I approached him he would be alerted since I destroyed his trip wires, he would be ready and waiting for me as I tried to come up the stairs or ladder to get him. It was an advantageous position for him, and typically he would get the better end of the engagements. Well anyway I had enough, so I mounted a stationary cannon after finding out which attic he was currently in, and I aimed it at the attic and blew a hole right through the wall, blowing off an entire section of the building there, and killing him in the process.

Oh I`m so ready for some Mars Automatic Pistol action, hopefully theres some silly scope attachment for it, so it can double as a mid range semi-auto sniper rifle ha hah! (though the kick will be massive).

Hello Everyone,

Today I am bringing you some more leaks from the Closed Alpha game files in addition to the large amount that I have already posted up above:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The multiplayer will potentially have these factions:

  • AUS
  • GER
  • FR
  • ITA
  • RU
  • UK
  • US
  • OTT / OTM / TK

The singelplayer will be the UK vs Germany (If the gameplay trailer wasn't obvious) They both, and only them (UK and Germany) have AI lines going into cover etc..
A filename also hints that one of the first missions of the singelplayer will be in London.

All the spotted filenames which hint at vehicles:

  • vo_mp_spotted_generic_aa 0 0 0
  • vo_mp_spotted_generic_airship 0 0 0
  • vo_mp_spotted_generic_antivehicle 0 0 0

There are sounds for levolution and they hint at weather:

The only factions which have the weather_bad are UK and TK, so probably those would be fighting together.

Short Part III.

  • Charge is awesome. It's awesome because it has risk/reward. The risk is completely missing a target, and having no ability to run afterwords. But it also has other applications other than just killing people. For example, if you're being fired at and you're running low in health but cover is just a charge away, you can charge to quickly run towards the cover, in many situations this could save you. Same can be said for catching up to vehicles before they run off etc.
  • I think overall I am torn about recon aka scout class. It's very powerful, it's over all better I think, but it's actually worse against other snipers. Before the best sniper typically won. If you saw a scope reflection you could engage in a sniper battle and find people that could be basically anywhere. Now the scope reflection won't always work, making sniping sometimes a game of who sees who first (to a larger extent than before).
  • To expand on that even further, the "sweet spot" mechanic adds a bit more randomness to the sniper vs sniper battle. It then becomes who had the right rifle for the right range, if you can only manage a chest shot. I don't like this because IMO it rewards players who aren't very good at headshots. In BF4 I won probably 90% of my sniper battles because I understood how to get headshots from X range. Now if someone isn't that great at it they can end up with a 1 shot kill regardless. I know that it does take planning to get to that ideal range, but I prefer skill to planning in this case.
