That's different. Gonna be a great month, can't wait. Can you believe how exciting the next month is going to be? First, we've heard that NVIDIA will be unveiling its next-gen GeForce video cards in the next week, and on the same day - EA will unveil the next generation Battlefield 5. Yes, it's happening on the same day. We only reported a few hours ago that NVIDIA will have partner cards on retail shelves in June, too
I hope you are wrong, only cuz myself and many others bought a Titan X 8 months ago and it would suck to have dropped $1100 on a card to have it depreciate that quickly. If this happens, I will NEVER spend that much on a GPU ever again
I think that happened with the original Titan didn't it?Originally Posted by steveTA1983

Yes I think you're right. If this happens, I'm done with the PC gaming. It's insane that you spend 1000 bucks then a year later it's "old news". In contrast (not starting a political battle, but just a comparison), you can buy a rifle for $1000 and it will hold its value for decades for the most part, or even go up in value. Technology is great, but it's frustrating that every year there is something that kicks the heck out of last year's product, and you almost "need" it to run max settings.
Happened to me with the 970, My sli was supposed to be awesome longer
the problem with us (PC gamers) is that we strive for perfection. We want the best settings when we play. God I wish I stuck to consoles lol
Even is they are as fast with special care from Nvidia they will end up faster. Maxwell will start to fall behind in new games.
even if that is the case, Nvidia need to get rid of GM200. It is way too expensive to make those chips.
I bought 2 Titan X , ran custom Bios at 4K, and have Played the hell out of them and knew what to expect. The last game I played (tombraider) was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in a game at 4K. That said, I don't expect progress to slow down for me. I knew what I was getting into, "The Highest Tech Electronics" that moves faster and faster. We have known this, unless we weren't paying attention. Not trying to be offensive, just stating my view on it through my personal lense...
8 months ago? Titan X came out about 13 months ago or more.
I look at it like buying a set of tires - spend some money, get some use out of your expenditure, replace when no longer cutting it. Buying tires as a long term investment? Never crossed my mind.
Async compute is not strongly related to the CPU efficiency gains of dx12. They come either way.Originally Posted by crazysoccerman

No improvement in async compute = no buy. It's that simple for me.
What has you more excited? The upcoming price hike from Nvidia for its midgrade chips or another poorly executed sequel from EA?
Not really. We original Titan owners got two full years of near performance-supremacy for our $1k (780Ti was slightly faster clock for clock but Titan had full voltage control by then and the 980 was only ~10% faster at launch). Hell even if the 1080 is 30% faster than the Titan X that won't change the fact that your Titan X will still be more than capable of destroying any game at sub-4K resolutions for years to come.
It is amazing how the mind distorts reality to help rationalize our decisions
