get the 50mm f1.8 its a fantastic lens for the price I just recently got one myself

If you have an APS-C sensor you avoid 90% of the distortion and vignetting it has (its not a ton even on full frame). Im REALLY happy with this lens and focal length as a beginner and the fact that you have to move around and physically position yourself is something i like alot. Im still learning and expirementing and blew out most of my shots the other day but heres one i took yesterday afternoon out in the woods. I borked my images but hey i found antler sheds!

Amazing.

Don't forget to read the advanced features section of your manual! It's a condensed, pocket version of what setting does what and how to play with them to get the desired effect.

Better resources are available online, but that's a good quick reference starting point.

Another good book is "understanding exposure" by Bryan Peterson BTW, was and still is considered a great foundation for photography!

I've been doing photography since i was 15. So 13 years now, I've had a lot of cameras, and the best thing is go out, shoot, shoot and shoot...This is why I love digital, i learned a lot by shooting slide film (Velvia, Provia, E200, E100VS) but i learned more going to the EOS 30D and shooting digital

The biggest thing i had to learn to do is be emotionless on my photos, ask myself "is this good, is this my best" and toss it if it has any flaws...

A lot of folks think im crazy when they see what i trash. But I'll explain why i am dissatisfied, DoF wasnt deep enough, there was a piece of grass in the way, etc.. Now most of what i post i consider technically excellent..

I never had the 50mm f/1.8 STM sadly.. But I've had the legendary Sigma 50mm f/1.4...Heres some examples of what a wide aperture 50mm can do

Yeah I agree fully.

I'll go out, shoot some 300 pictures (for example), and in my head, while the quick preview on the camera may tell me I'll probably keep 200 of those 300 shots, once they're on my PC probably only 40 make it through the first culling stage.

Of those 40 only 10 may make it out of my computer tongue.gif

It's funny how we ourselves can be much more critical than anyone else sometimes. My dad looks at pictures I've shot and in his eyes the majority are perfect. If I ask my mum, she'll scrap half, and she has never had any training or interest in the technical aspects of photography. She's just more critical when it comes to picture quality than my father is.

I've scrapped shots simply because they're a crop.

For example, shots were some random dude appears in the very far side, but the moment you crop it the vignetting of the lens doesn't look right, the DOF is out of place and if you crop the entire shot the framing looks wrong.

It may look right, technically speaking after the postprocess/cropping, but I know that shot wasn't good when I took it, so I cannot bring myself to keep it tongue.gif

The T6S is a very nice camera I just received mine yesterday, I also bought a 64GB card with it and it came with a 16GB card, Case, and 4 port USB Hub, which is pretty nice. I bought mine from Crutchfield, that's why it came with the Card, USB Hub, and Case.
