I have a Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 so I started a different project on each to see how they do independently. The 7 stays on a charger all day at home but the 9 I bring to work with me so there will be a few hours during the week it won't be processing units.

1.5% through a Universe@Home WU in 27min. Smokin fast! wink.gif

for those of you that don't already know, snapdragon 400 quad core phones can be had for $10-$20 brand spanking new. Since it is a full functional android device, you can run all kinds of apps on it, just make sure BOINC is one of them....

However, in boincstats, it shows total of 800PPD. This is weird.

Even at 800PPD using 2 phones at 4 - 7w, thats pretty good points per watt.  For comparison I have dual xeon 5470 rig, that gets about 9k PPD using 207 watts measured with a kill-a-watt.  Using your numbers you would need 22 phones to match my output, but you could do it with 44 - 77w.  how you would plug 22 phones is another story I guess.

Bestbuy, prepaid phones. Just buy the phone, no need to activate.

Well, i can plug into a power strip, and daisy chain the power strip. Since these use barely any power, there would not be any hazard in doing this.
Or you can get a charger with like 8 USB ports, but I don't want to waste extra $ on it, since phones come with charger already.
