Played it a bit, looks great, runs great, and plays great. Make sure you turn off a lot of the driver assist!

Also I cannot recommend the Xbox One controller enough for this game, as it supports the trigger rumble function. You can feel the rumble when you're losing traction or braking hard

I don't like UWP, but most issues are due to this quick console to PC porting method MS are using when they get the chance.

Would love to try it but RIP Windows Stores existence on my pc.

Well, looking at some forums and checking out NeoGAF...people seem to be having little to no problems with this one. So far seems actually to be optimized and is running and very playable. So, yeah.

Does this game support Thrustmaster TX with the addons? I use that to play Forza 6 on Xbox.

I'm downloading it right now and will be testing this in about an hour.

No wheel support as far as I know, however it will be added "soon" according to Turn 10. So, hopefully they don't take too long for those who like to play racing games with wheels.

In trying to find a way to brute-force 21:9 3,440 x 1,440 (the game is limited to 16:9 aspect ratios at the moment), I was unable to do so.

BUT, I found some controller settings and one of them was "Thrustmaster." So, the basic files are there already, it seems. They might just need to add some finishing touches.

EDIT: Forgot to crop the original image lololol

Here's the file,

And location,

This is the first "game" that uses the force feedback triggers on the Xbox one controller on PC. It actually feels pretty cool. I had forgotten the controller had this feature.

That kind of sucks considering I'm using a wheel natively supported by Forza 6. I haven't used a controller for racing in years, so I'm not competitive with them anymore.

Well, Hopefully I can run it on surround / eyefinity or this game is a complete bust for anyone into sim racing. Maybe it will be compatible with the Rift in the future and I won't need to worry about surround monitors.

I'm running it at 1080p 60fps on high with a stock AMD Phenom II X4 955 and a stock HD7950.

There are microtransactions, but they don't unlock anything you can't get by playing the game. Those are cheats for the people who can't be bothered to complete the "story" to unlock all of the cars for free. I don't see any issues with these types of microtransactions.

As I said above, it currently only has 16:9 support, on a single display I believe.

Let's hope it lives up to the hype created by the Xbox crowd

I don't want to be "that guy," but... This, in it's current state has potential, but is nothing like Forza 6 on Xbox One. The console version is vastly better, and very different in terms of leveling, progression, and unlocking cars, and more.

Because Apex is a demo, not a full game. We will get full Forza with 7 and Horizon 3.

Played a few races, and it looks marginally better than Xbox version. Distant scenes in the background are slightly clearer since you can disable LOD, and that tiny bit of aliasing you see on Xbox One are gone as well. The game technically can run in 5760 x 1080, but the game never renders more than the middle screen which is hopefully being fixed with the full games.

Gameplay wise, the cars all felt the same as on Xbox which is pretty good. For anyone new to Forza, I recommend disabling all assists except leave steering on normal. Simulation steering is really crappy in Forza as its unstable and unpredictable even with my $800 sim racing setup, so avoid using it. Manual w/ clutch isn't advised for Controller so stick with Manual. Also use ABS if you can't get a good feel for the controller triggers and lock up all the time. Otherwise, for a sim-cade game that heavily leans toward the sim side, it should be a very approachable game for new players.

I get that it's a demo, but still, I just find it extremely odd they reworked it so much as they did, instead of just kind of leaving it as-was,
The thing to consider is they may have to start from the ground up for Apex, and the only usable assets from the Xbox version was textures, audio, ect... Allot of console devs have made demos for PC to show gameplay trailers at events, but that demo was far from being a playable full game like the retail copy. They tend to be barely functioning versions of the game with almost no content, to record gameplay videos they can show off with higher fidelity than the finished product.

I think this makes sense of why there is limited content if they had to start from scratch on allot of the base mechanics. When they make Forza 7 and Horizon 3, they can work on PC development along side it this time instead of a tech demo.

Any way to get this without going through the store? I disabled all the metro apps and the store back when I upgraded to 10.

No, sorry. It's a UWP app and requires the store.

Hm, seems I'm stuck then. I believe DWS's method of disabling metro apps is permanent. At the time I couldn't think of a reason why I would ever need to use the store. Oh well.

Well I for one refuse to touch this game without 21:9 support.

I heard the Windows store is getting a big update soon, so, maybe that'll make it a bit more useful. I'd like it if the "games" section was divided between crappy mobile games and ACTUAL games like Quantum Break/Forza.

It is a bit frustrating to have such wasted space. And you can't even run it windowed and force it by stretching the resolution.

Maybe, but I think to get the store back I'll have to do a reset of Windows. Not worth my time to reinstall all my applications at the moment.
