Instead they bought ATI. The first 2-3 generations of GPUs that AMD had a direct hand in designing were great (HD 4xxx, HD5xxx, and HD6xxx**see note), and they beat Nvidia back to an all time low in marketshare. Then the financial troubles of the Bulldozer massive fail cought up with the whole company and there was no money, so all GPUs since those first generations have failed more and more as time goes on and now Nvidia is the one with a massive marketshare upper hand.
Who else to blame other than Hector ruinz who is the same man that run Motorola down. If hector give up his position, AMD would be much better now.

Hector was only one of the evildoers, but he could historically be the worst AMD CEO. Including him AMD had what .. 4 CEOw changes within 5-6 years? The board of directors has had some switches here and there too.

The overpriced ATI deal and the GlobalFoundrie rippoff were so devastating for the financials. The sale of the mobile division of ATI was a failure too. Hm, the list of management failures goes on and on.

Hope the new guy and Raja Koduri can fix some of that bloated & incompetent leadership mistakes.
