Yeah what the hell is going on with AMD cards here? PCGH is even using the new driver especially for DOOM. This performance is beyond pathetic. No thanks I'm skipping this game.
Hawaii performance on 1080p (beaten by a GTX 960) and 1440p (little victory against the same 960) are totally meh.
It's better in 4K but the game is no more playable.
Weird results...

results very abnormal for AMD given that the PS4 runs at 1080p(dynamic, 1600 to 1920 horizontal), where a 280x and a 280(both faster than the graphics card inside a PS4) fail to maintain 30 fps mins (do note consoles are running it at 60 fps)
another note: due to the fact that the 380x is faster than both the 290x and 390, the game may or may not be heavily tesselated, as tonga's tessellation performance is better than hawaii's in extreme workloads, at least in the 1080p graph
So Nvidia was running Vulkan drivers on the GTX 1080, but their isn't any Day 1 Vulkan support? Only DX11 OpenGL? Also I take anything PCGH says about the Fury X with a grain of salt. My super old X58 architecture + Fury X @ Stock always puts up better numbers than what they claim. They aren't the only site, but their numbers are way off.

its showing a similar trend to what happened I think with Witchers 3 launch, which marked the point where the 780ti was no longer equal to the 980. The 960 had a lot of performance gains in very specific titles. Project Cars was on the same boat, as the 960 did extremely well in that title.
It's what happens when you compare cards based on different architectures... sometimes the newer architecture is just better in certain games more than its average performance would suggest. No need for conspiracy theories. Maxwell is a better architecture than Kepler. And Pascal will be a better architecture than Maxwell.
But I think there's an issue with the fps Afterburner is reporting.. says 40-45 with no drops, but feels and looks lower than 30 with a lot of monsters around.
Yea I guess its time for me to switch back to the green team. Not really comfortable playing the games I love with my 290X anymore, DS3 runs like crap even @1080p with lower settings smh. 1080 or 1070 will be my next upgrade.
