Officially the only things coming tomorrow are "Watch AMD@Computex for the launch of 7th Generation AMD A-Series Processors, Polaris updates and more!"

Nickels for all! I laughed so hard when I hard about that. I still think the Apple lawsuit was frivolous and should have been thrown out because the patent was fraught with ambiguity.

My perception of upcoming AMD cards is that these cards will be better suited for future proofing with a focus on DX12. Nvidia is pushing out its first gen Pascal cards without really re-tweaking the Maxwell arch. The "real DX12/asynch compute" cards wi start showing up with Volta when Nvidia re-spins the arch on the same node. So, my guess is that 1080/1070 will have a short lived performance optimization useful life. This is Nvidia why is getting these cards out now to capture as many of its existing customers, based on current last year games' benchmarks, before AMD starts releasing its cards, and before more DX12 games are out. This is just a hunch... so, we'll see how it plays out... Lol

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_12_support

this doesnt inspire much in me

some of those wont require a powerful GPU at all and a lot of future premium AAA titles are missing there

I think Nvidia has read the market and the industry perfectly redface.gif

if/when DX12/async really kicks off - they will be ready

It's not like you are doing anything interesting at that hour.

Unless AMD releases in June, it must be a heavy price/performance card to actually gain some market share. Keep in mind, most people will buy an nVidia card if it has the same price/performance - myself included- . Hell, even a 10-20% cheaper AMD for the same price/performance won't sell better than the same nVidia counterpart.

So if they release in July - as the info presented from all sides - you need at least 300$ 980 TI / 1070 performance to compete. Anything less, and nobody will be upgrading to Polaris as opposed to 1070. And this comming from a guy who owned more AMD cards than nVidia.

Exactly. By the time DX12 is the widespread API, pascal will be old enough that volta will be out. Que volta being much better at DX12, and fans going crazy. Either that, or DX12 wont be the holy hand grenade AMD needs, just like mantle, and they'll be left under nvidia yet again.

DX11 still matters, and AMD focusing entirely on DX12 sounds like the same mistake they made with 64 bit and multi core. Years ahead of their time, doesn't help sales.

I feel you cant really abandon DX11 because DX11 = Win 7/8/8.1 and a LOT of users are still on those versions and even in the next few years there will still be lots of non-Win10 gamers (honestly plenty of ppl outright hate Win 10)

you cant just cut them off like that, you must keep supporting DX11 properly until it gradually phases out like DX9 did
