I really love my bulldozer. All my work is heavily threaded and my machine has paid for itself many times over. Runs games just fine too @ 4.7Ghz.

Just do a quick power calculation compared to a 2600k@4,7mhz the cpu would be faster and after all these years even cheaper, bulldozer = power hog

Not really much of a difference in power cost between a Vishera SKU and that 2600k though. £1 a month, thereabouts. Bulldozer is definitely hungry for power but I'm quite happy with the Vishera running in my backup. It's usually on 24/7 as it handles PLEX/backup duties/torrents/whatever else, and my electric isn't slaying me yet.

He lives in a cold place all that extra power was used for heat. This means his heat didn't run in the house as much. LOL sorry had to.biggrin.gif Bulldozer is great for heating rooms.

AMD really needs to stop talking before they have something on the table. This is what damages them so much, they hype, then release with a mere wet fart of a product or announce a delay

I hope they make some great strides this year!!

Same here. If the best Zen processor can beat my 4930K straight up (including OC) then I will buy it. But they have to actually deliver this time and not just talk. That's always been AMD's problem.

I guess when the competition is so far ahead, you can look back to watch them catch up to you again! tongue.gif

All joking aside, I hope they get competitive with this release. I've seen no real reason to upgrade since SB-E since its only been 5% each release.

Zen will be good,if they retain the fully manual FSB and NB clocking then Im sold. I did love my AMD days,I would like to revisit them soon, rigs do seem to be more....'fluid' (if thats the best term) with an AMD CPU.

You get me. That's the biggest reason I've stuck with my 8350 for, what, 4 years now? Although its improved over the years, the same way GCN is, and finally stretching its legs compute wise (coughsoftware devscoughcough) it was definitely a slog the first 2-3 years to justify their 8xxx line (I still can't justify their 9xxx line, just factory OCed 8xxxs their stock coolers can't handle). Its been nice that my parts have stayed consistently mid-range as the years have passed though, raising the overall $/perf ratio considerably.

Back to the original point though. I love tinkering across the board and don't feel I should have to pay 'blah' extra for an 'unlocked' core when I own it. I should be allowed to do whatever the heck I want with it.

well, the PR has to do something. Hopefully it's not as bad as Bulldozer.

I'm all about what's best. If that's AMD, cpu-wise, I'm all over it.
