Best scavenger parts for legit old Intel build?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I wanted to build a secondary PC that could push the edges of budget. I may let my dad use it, and his old PC atm has a core 2 quad 8200 and nvidia gt220 in it.

I was looking to pick out the best peformance/price budget parts off ebay most likely, can anyone recommend a CPU chip + mobo? sandy bridge? Maybe the old i7 920 series? What graphics card? It would be cool if the PC could run games like CS:GO and low setting or low resolution with 60fps. I have a 8800GTX atm.

Please let me know!

Totally depends on the budget. but the cpu he has now isnt horrid. even a I7 920 series wouldnt be much of a overall jump. i think the focus needs to be on the gpu side of things. grab a 750ti. that will run most games med to high at 1080p just fine without needing any power connectors. if you really looking for a second computer the used market wont help you too much, i mean. it could but you need to search it on your own to find some deals. it does take time.
