When people tell me "we need a Mercy, switch," that tells me they suck at situational awareness, and have no idea how to adapt to a non-Mercy team composition. I had one solid, fun game last night as Zenyatta on Junkertown where I had decent healing cresting over 10k, but the shining stats were 54 offensive assists, 55 defensive assists, and 30% accuracy (slightly lower than my average, but considering the game, pretty good). Every other game was an infuriating mess of lackluster dps, little to no focus firing, and tanks outpacing their healers into closed off killing zones. All of this was played from roughly 9 pm to 11 pm EST.
Edit: Ironic that my avatar is Mercy, but that art was from the beginning of OW and is serene, which is why I keep it.
If you don't have a Mercy, your team is at a huge disadvantage in the current patch. It's not your responsibility to play her however. My brother is a Zenyatta main, and he's broken down and played Mercy a few times due to pressure... he has a 3% win rate with Mercy after an hour. It isn't worth it if you just aren't good with her still.

I was playing Genji, Widow or D.va but guess what, playing in the "counter way" has a big effect on the enemy team and match in general. Let me explain...
I started to play with Genji and in the enemy team you see a Rein, Wiston, Junk, Mercy, Zen and Pharah. In that moment I kill my self and change to Sombra (Yes, sombra) After 2 minutes of continuos hacks to Mercy and Pharah both switch...as well as I to counter the new picks...Lucio and Reaper. Results? The enemy team does not have in count that you play to counter the picks and lose their mind trying to find a combination for take the points...
I need to get better at swapping soon. I play an aggressive Winston so the other team usually swaps to reaper and hog, and I take too long to swap off.
