BEFORE WCCFTECH OR ANYONE TAKES THESE AS FACTS, LET ME STATE THAT EVERYTHING BELOW IS PURE SPECULATION
Going by AMD's public statements, IPC will increase by 40% over Excavator.
Which should mean that Zen will be in average
40% faster than XV in single-thread
, at the same clocks
Let's assume that cinebench improves exactly by 40% and Zen could clock like mad.(both highly unlikely)
I wasn't able to find results for both Intel and AMD at a lower clock rate than 4,7Ghz so everything below is calculated using those and then extrapolated for realistic clocks.
Piledriver at 4,7Ghz has 112 ST score, which would theoretically put 4,7Ghz Zen at 180 ST score*
Now if according to leaks and rumours Zen has SMT and a classic CPU architecture like Intel's, it means that it MIGHT be possible to make a prediction based on Intel's multi-core scaling.
With an average scaling of 64%** and 8c/16t
, Zen could reach 1785MT score (180 x 16 x 0.64) which is close to what 5960x has at the same clocks***
Now let's be realistic and normalise for 3.5Ghz, which makes that 1329 for MT and 134 for ST
This would make Zen REALLY competitive with Intel and maybe force Intel to stop the efficiency train.
* Based on this review
, (112 * 1.4 * 1.15)
** Based on average Intel MT scaling from the same article
