I think ZenFX-XXXX or ZenX-XXXX would be nice , but im not sure how this name could be carried over to new generations of cores

ZX-8000 and ZX-6000 for unlocked or otherwise fully enabled 8 and 6 core, Z-8000/Z-6000 for the locked or more trimmed down variants. I would have no problem with that.

I really can't wait for this to be fully confirmed. For three reasons.

One, because very few here thought Zen would be this (theoretically) close to Intel's modern architecture, and had stated they thought it would be closer to Ivy Bridge. Two, I am dying to start a new build and want to go with AM4. Three, because if AMD really is making the leap that brings them this close (within 5 to 10% of Broadwell-E) with an new architecture that has an even further revision coming in 2017, we are about to see a drastic change in the CPU market.

Nonetheless, things are looking good for them. Really good. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be shocked come September/October.

Whatever it may be, it should pay homage to the Athlon name if they are really trying to get back into the market since they failed with using the FX name. I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with an AX-850, but that may confuse it with the A10 line.

call it IK ( intel killer ) now wouldnt that be nice thumb.gif
