Ventrilo is my personal favorite, but back in the days when people had slow internet it made them lag biggrin.gif

Used to use Vent when I raided. Now these days its curse, mumble, or Skype... and Skype is the worst when it comes to quality.

Guess no one uses RAZER COMMs anymore.

TS works fine but has it's own issues such as you need to create or buy a server and they are prone to DDOS especially by opponent faction members in the game the server is related to. It's pathetic what some people will do to win in a game and resort to even unlawful action and DDOS game servers, DDOS teamspeak servers at strategic moments, at minimum they will try getting on your TS to transmit noise and disrupt your communication.

I would try Discord but so far no gaming community I've seen used it.

Never heard of Mumble, that's another reason why everyone seems to be using TS, it's been around a long time and many have it and are familiar with it, people don't respond to: sure you can join our clan here download Discord and come talk to us, they will be like WTH is Discord... or WTH is he Mumbling about.

That's because a lot of the newer stuff are for smaller groups of people and probably why your circle of gamers hasn't heard about it. A lot of them targeting people who wants something free, don't want to pay for or upkeep servers, and just enough for their team (Four to ten). Mostly the MOBA like crowd.

Yeah Discord really is where it is at. They're talking about implementing video chat and that would be amazing.

Don't believe there is a limit to users on discord or mumble etc... Think discord had 5k users on one server at like pax or something, and it ran without a hiccup, it was maxed at 1% CPU and housed in a trash can.

I think what makes the new ones popular is the ease of use in creating a free server and getting people to join, the twitch/YouTube integration, overlay support, enhanced chat functions etc...

Talking more about like Curse, Skype and Razer Comms.

I personally haven't used Discord as of late but from all the people recommending it, must be good... But most of my friends seems to be stuck in the habit of using Skype rolleyes.gif

I love Discord but I've had my PTT button stop working when certain applications are focused (Afterburner, ESEA client). They need to add voice activation indication to the taskbar icon.

Currently use Skype (worst usability & crap program imo) and Curse. I prefer mumble. It's hard to make friends switch rolleyes.gif
